We are considering a move to Sussex Co. We don't want beach property, but would like to be about 15-20 minutes from the beach. I know homeowners insurance had gone up astronomically for property near the beach. How is it in Delaware?

It's not as bad as other states for some reason. It's impossible to quote numbers. Just call you're agent, give them an address or general location and a home value and they will give you a quote. Also keep in mind that 20 minutes from the beach in the summer means 2 miles or so.

Smile Move to DE

We are about 15-20 mins. from Lewes, DE and about 20-30 mins. from Rehoboth Beach. Those are resort beaches. We are also only about 10 mins. from the smaller beaches where you can walk your dogs, go fishing, etc. without the tourism. Anyway, our homeowner's ins. is around $500/yr. for a 4 bed/2 ba. with deck and outbuilding on 3/4 acre. We may also be on the market soon if my husband's job offer comes through in NC. Property taxes are around $300/yr or less. Hope this info. helps!
