Default Red Mill Pond

Can anyone give me information about this area? We are considering a move to this location. Prices are a little high, but we like the idea of living near a lake that is still close to the beach.

Seems like there are several communities around Red Mill Pond that have HOA's with boat ramps, etc. Is this also a public pond? Can anyone tow their boat to the boat ramp and access Red Mill Pond? Or do you need to own a home in one of the communities to gain access? Any thoughts or ideas on living in this area?

My husband and I have driven around Red Mill Pond a number of times. We love the pond--it's really beautiful. We actually like the older "beach-feel" homes on Best Lane which is the north side of the pond, although a number of these have been renovated or torn down and a new home built. There are some nice homes in the developments around the south side of the pond, but they're newer, closer together and not many are on the water. Don't know much about the boat ramps. All in all, we would love to live on the pond--preferably waterfront! Last time we checked (last year) you could get a nice home on the water for $500-900,000.

I am curious to know where is Red Mill Pond in relation to Lewes, Delaware and Rehoboth.

Ken, Red Mill Pond is just north of Nassau as you go down Rt. 1...Costal Highway. Traveling south, it sits off to the right of the road. If you know the arched bridge that comes into Five Points, it is a bit north of there....a few miles north of the turn off to Lewes.

It used to be an area of speed traps. DE Staters would nail lots of vacationers as they were about to enter the beach area. Don't know if that's still the case. Still gotta watch yourself around Milford. There's an overpass where they get ya. More info than you asked for, right?
