James, you need to convince my husband that he won't realize he's on a boat if we take a cruise. He fears he won't be able to sleep in the cabin, will notice the rocking, and will feel as if he's "trapped" with all the other passengers. I even offered to pay for a short two-night cruise when we visit Florida in August, but he will not be swayed. The most I can convince him to do is a boat ride to the Bahamas, and that's pushing it. Sigh....

I swear I had no idea most of the time that we were even on a boat, it had an ice rink, rock climbing wall, and a casino. It doesn't sway back and forth and the food is great. We went with Royal Caribbean. It was more of an older crowd well married anyway but it was great trip. I can't wait to go again.

I heard Royal Caribbean is pretty reputable. Definitely want to be around a 30-older, married crowd.

My husband and I spent some time at Dover Downs tonight--no big wins though. I cannot get over how crowded the buffet was!! They had hot snow crab legs and people were circling around them like vultures. Goodness!!

Since my beach day last weekend got rained out, me & my boyfriend decided to head down again on Saturday and try to get some tanning in perfect weather all day Saturday! Went to the Tower Rd bathhouse, then down to Harpoon Hanna's for lunch...mmmmmm delicious tiki food & frozen drinks

Happy Father's Day to all you dads on here!
I sure would like to try my luck at Dover Downs...will have to plan on that soon!

Finally, it's time to stay home tonight and relax!
It's been a rip-roaring week in Kent County.

Local bands have been working hard in many of the pubs/taverns, and there have been some good ones. I think we saw 6 different bands this past week, just around the Dover area.

The Southern Delaware Street Rod Association held their June Jamboree at the Harrington Fair Grounds, Thursday through today (Sunday). Three days of checking out all the beautiful masterpieces wasn't even enough. What a bunch of nice people, too!

Friday night, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were at Harrington Raceway & Casino, and performed on a track side stage. It was gorgeous weather, and there was a cool breeze. We snagged VIP tickets, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks in a private tent, and were even fortunate to meet some of the band members. There were 13 musicians, plus Frankie and the Four Seasons. Funny, the Four Seasons never aged. They're still 24-25 years old!

Oh my...wish I had read this before now. I was at the Street Rod Car Show with my son and his friends. He has a gran torino sport and his friend brought his Model T....
which got lots of attention... I enjoyed watching the spectators walk up with smiles on their faces. Lots of good conversation with the friendly folks there.

There's a small group of Dad's coordinating dates on facebook called "Delaware Dad's day" where you bring your children to Glasgow park and play/picnic. Should be fun, might be a popular gathering soon...

Default Delaware State Fair July 21-30

Fair Week is coming and the ground workers are busy-busy. Already, they are assembling a model home on site, and the straw is being delivered to the barns. Of course, we can always count on it raining Fair Week, but we really do need it.

Some of the best fairs I've ever been to have been while it was raining. As long as it isn't a downpour, I don't mind a little rain at all. At least it keeps things cool and the crowds aren't bad.

Default Music at the Delaware State Fair

I just noticed the scheduling of bands during Fair Week out on the Bonz Casino Patio. Every day of the Fair, there will be two bands playing outside. Times are 4-8 p.m. and 9-1 a.m. Only a couple of the bands are repeating that week. The atmosphere on that patio is delightful! They have gorgeous water falls, fire pits, tables with umbrellas, an outside bar, and a nice patio dancing area. And, there's a special open air dining area to order from the Bonz menu.

Default On The Green in Dover, Concerts

Another happy thing to do -
Every Thursday night 7 p.m. all summer long, bring your blanket or chair and relax under the tall, tall trees to a concert each week.

July 14: Island Boyz Band — island
July 21: The Draw — variety
July 28: John Flynn — folk
