Wow, RDLR...Sheridan's sounds like my kind of celebration!!!
I love hearing others' parental experiences as well; I have a 15-year-old who will be turning 16 before the year is over. He has achieved almost straight A's in high school so far (attends one of the best schools in the state--yay!), and I told him I'd buy him a (used!) car this summer if keeps those grades up. There goes my extra cash...LOL!
James--A snake sounds wonderful!! I had one as a child. My husband is scared to death of them though. I have to round them up if he finds them in our yard--which is quite often.
Well, I'll be leaving soon to begin my St. Patty's Day celebrations

The husband and I had an absolutely splendid time at the Ocean City St. Patrick's Day parade this afternoon, and the weather was perfect for it. We stopped in for a drink at Seacret's afterward and then headed over to Harpoon Hanna's for lunch. It was such a great day to unwind....

Glad you had a good time, beachliz! Sounds great! Is Fager's Island still a good place to go? That was one of our stomping grounds.
We just got back from Smyrna, which was quite a party and is STILL going on. They have Market St. Plaza blocked off near Sheradan's, 2 huge heated tents with tables/chairs, and another tent for the band and dancing. We started at 4:30 and had dinner there. I got fish 'n chips, and he got corned beef and cabbage, both delicious. We reconnected with lots of our old friends and made some new ones. The place was packed, but orderly...just people having fun, many wearing battery lighted hats and shirts. Tomorrow we go back at 2 p.m. for the parade, and Thursday is the Irish Breakfast, bagpipes, and celtic music.

Is Sheridan's the old Glenwood Inn? I saw pictures of the inside and it sort of looks like what I remember of the Glenwood Inn. Yes, I'm going back a "few" years....

That sounds like fun, RDLR!!! And, to answer your question regarding Fager's: I haven't been there in years. I used to go there for dinner/dancing back when I was in my mid-twenties, and it was the premier place to be back then. I believe it's still a decent place to hang out--maybe I should visit Fager's this summer. Sounds like a plan....
I'll be going out for dinner and celebration for St. Patrick' Day on Thursday as well. We're still debating on which Irish restaurant to visit. I LOVE this holiday; it literally carries on for a week!! My husband and I both have strong Celtic roots (he's part Irish and I'm part Welsh); therefore, we really get into it.

No, that's not it, Carole. The Glenwood Inn is now a plumbing contractor's site. Sheridan's is on the corner of Market Street Plaza and Commerce Street in downtown Smyrna. It used to be a pool hall a number years ago (way back when we were running around).

Thanks, beachliz. I used to love Fager's Island so much. I know what you mean, it's a week long event! I'm kind of a mut....Irish, Scotch Canadian, and Polish!
There are so many choices of things to do, it's hard to narrow down the plans. I wish we could get around to everything! At the Smyrna party, the St. Patrick's Day attire was outrageous!
I mean REALLY outrageous.

Boxing at Harrington Saturday
Like boxing? Nice card down at Harrington, Saturday March 19th at 7 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall at the Fairgrounds (Harrington Raceway & Casino)!
Interesting will be the performance of Melinda Levaseur (7-1) born in Philadelphia, residing in Magnolia, and also employed as a cocktail waitress at the casino.

Late today, we're heading up to Solly's Irish Pub in Middletown to celebrate St. Patrick's Day
