Sounds like a great plan, rdlr!!

We headed up to Dover Downs last night for some gambling and drinking. We hung out at Doc Magrogan's (in the casino) until late and then spent the night. We had a blast celebrating one of my favorite holidays--and I'm still wearing my green today.

Default Bluegrass & Country

We had a great time tonight in the Gold Room at Harrington Casino. Randy Waller & The Country Gentlemen, bluegrass legends, performed. Randy is the son of Charlie Waller from the original band. Great chops on the mandolin, 5 string banjo, guitar and bass! We enjoyed the 6 p.m. show so much, we went back for the 8 p.m. show and they played all different selections.

Afterwards, there was a really lively country band in the Bonz Patio called Jack Daniels, and the great weather brought out all the dancers to kick up their heels. The lead singer sounded just like George Strait! What a fun Friday night!

Default Boxing Was Fun!

We really enjoyed the boxing matches at Harrington, Saturday night! I believe there were 10-11 matches, some exhibition, some professional, but all good. Melinda, our local star from Magnolia/Harrington won her match handily, which was somewhat controversial. In the first round, she won by a technical knockout. The ref called the match, because it was obvious that her opponent was not as competitive. Probably a good thing, most of the crowd thought.

Afterwards, there was a party from 11 p.m. - 1 a.m. where we got to meet the fighters, promoters, and other fans.

Also, I made a mistake about the name of the country band playing at Harrington Friday night...not Jack Daniels Band, but the Mason Dixon Band. Sorry! They were back Saturday night with all the same dancers doing their thing!

So much fun to be had!

Cute pic, Raven!!

rdlr--sounds like you enjoyed the week long celebration we call St. Patrick's Day. I finally ended my celebrating yesterday. Now, I am ready for spring weather!!

I enjoy the Harrington Casino as well, but it's quite a drive for us. This weekend sounds like a fun time to be had though!! We like to stop in there to cool off when we visit the state fair every year. We've been frequenting the new Ocean Downs lately; it's only a forty minute drive for us.

We've never been. There is so much to do around here, we just can't keep up. But OD is definitely on our "to do" list. We haven't been to any harness horse racing lately either, and we have to catch up with that.

In June, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will be in Harrington.

We enjoyed an excellent Johnny Cash Tribute Saturday night, performed by Shawn Barker, who's touring the USA and overseas. We saw him last year at the Schwartz Center in Dover.

Venue was the Fire & Ice Lounge at Dover Downs, which is not the best place to see an act like this one. Cover/Admittance was $25/person, and one would expect a few comforts. Drinks were high, and a tiny 3 portion set of mixed snacks was $2. But the worse part was that the management let the young ones (had to be over 21, I guess) try to ruin the show for us who actually came to see a Johnny Cash Tribute, not to get drunk.

All and all, it was a happy night. If anyone likes Johnny Cash, this is definitely a show to see.
