Actually, I only have one question, but I thought I'd make it plural in the thread title in case anyone else has questions they want to post. In looking at the state fair website, it says that there are free shuttle buses between the parking lot and the fair ground. Is the parking really that far from the fair grounds or is the shuttle just a convenience for people with small children and old folks who can't walk very far? If my partner and I go we would be there fairly early in the day just to see the livestock and ag exhibits, so it's not like the parking should be very crowded.

You will still park in the field, no matter when you go. There are tons of parking attendants who will direct you to where they want you to park. Then, you walk to the shuttle stop, and there are many locations. There are air conditioned shuttles now, in addition to wagons pulled by tractors. Don't think you'd want to walk it. Besides it being too hot to walk, the fields get very dusty. When you look from a distance it would appear to be not too long of a walk. But, from a distance, you can't see the fenced off areas you can't access.

We go every day, and go back every night. But, we have a" nice" casino card that we've had for 15 years, that gets us in the back gate so we can park at the casino doors. They also give us passes every day to enter the fairgrounds. We've paid for that luxury over the years.

Don't forget to visit the casino, if only to get cool and get free ice and drinks from 2 different locations in that building. And, take a look at Bonz Restaurant in there.

Even with all this hot weather, the Fair goes on, as usual. We go most days, and even nights. This is one of those Delaware things that locals try to preserve, while everything else around us is changing. Sure, the midway is cement now, not dust, and more of the exhibit buildings are air conditioned. They've even added a wing eating contest, and beer testing tent. But the same loyal farmers are there, along with their grandchildren and great grandchildren showing their animals and exhibiting their produce. This is our once-a-year reunion which lasts all week; it's great to sit in the barns and under the shade trees to visit with all our friends and family again.
