I am a UPenn student and I will be doing clinical rotations in St. Francis in Wilmington. I live in Center City Pa. My shifts will end at midnight and I need to get back to Philly from Wilmington.

Is there a train or bus going back to Philly at that time of night (or morning)? I've looked at SEPTA and Amtrak, but it doesn't look like there is anything headed to Philly that late. I am new to the area, so I could just be overlooking something. I would appreciate any insight!!!

Thanks

This. At that hour, even the sidewalks fold up. On the plus side, I95 and 611 should be an easy drive back into Center City at that hour.

How long is your rotation? Do you know anyone in Wilmington that would let you crash on the couch or in a spare room?

I would not want to be out in a public transit area at that hour in Wilmington...

You would be taking the R2 train but if there actually is an overnight train, it would run at a minimum of every hour. It really isn't safe to take the train late at night and it wasn't safe 30 years ago.

Either you will need to drive, and traffic should be light, or I would find a room to rent. For some reason I thought that hospitals had rooms where staff could stay when they were on long rotations.

If you can find a train that does run at the times you need, get to know the regular train employees, who will look out for you.

Thank you all for of your replys. I appreciate the advice and suggestions. My rotation through St. Francis is for 4 months. I guess I will just have to break down and drive. I was hoping to not have to bring my car from Texas, but it looks like I really don't have a choice. I didn't even think about the safety factor. I'm pretty tough...... but still a girl. It probably wouldn't be wise for me to be hanging around the station after midnight.

Thanks again!!

St. Francis isn't really near the train station either. You would need some transportation to the train station.
