No. "Slower Lower" is an expression reserved for those in Sussex County, near Dagsboro, Millsboro, Frankford, and those rural areas.

"Below the Ditch" "North of the Ditch" "South of the Ditch" =
expressions meaning below the Chesapeake Delaware Canal (Summit Bridge).

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Delaware has some of the nicest parks on the east coast. I WOULD say the country, but I have never left the east coast. Therefore, I cannot really make that statement...yet. However, I've visited state parks from Rhode Island to the very tip of south Florida, and I think we have some of the best I've ever seen. They are pleasantly designed, user friendly, have ample hiking/biking trails and boat/kayak launches, and they are very well maintained. I rarely notice much trash or lack of maintenance at any of the parks I visit which are primarily in Sussex County. What really impresses me is the pride Delawareans (both natives and transplants) have in regard to their state parks. It's quite remarkable; volunteers are constantly doing trash pick-up, volunteering their time to educate the public, or completing restoration projects. I have seen trash, poor planning, and other negative aspects about some parks I've visited in other states. I truly believe our state parks are some of, if not THE best, in the country. Oh, and don't forget the wildlife refuges--Bombay Hook, Prime Hook, and Assawoman are absolutely stunning. One of my favorite places on earth is the Assawoman Wildlife Refuge.

My top three state parks are Cape Henlopen in Lewes, Delaware Seashore-Fresh Pond in Ocean View, and Trap Pond in Laurel. I am quite sure a few in Kent and Sussex would make my top list if I lived closer to them. Anyway, just wanted to share my lifelong observations of our lovely state parks .

We went kayaking at Trap Pond this summer. Love the turtles there, and the cypress knees are a trip.

I run on the trails at White Clay & Fairhill often, miss the leaves already. Lums Pond is lovely as well, the trails around the "lake" are nice. DE does have some nice parks!

I like the David English Trail at White Clay Creek SP. You can take a nice side-hike on the Charles Bailey trail up to the old railroad bridge at the PA state line.

The Blue Goose trail at Primehook NWR is a good one too.

If you hike the "Un-named Multi-use trail" at Trap Pond SP, take a hike across Wooten road for a walk through the dense woods on the south side of that road via the rough, single track trail there.
