Default Greenville- Neighborhoods and Schools

Hi:
We're looking at moving to the area and from what we can tell from web research Greenville looks like a really nice area (will probably spend ~1M or so on a home). Right now I have a couple of questions for folks who know this region:
-Are there certain neighborhoods/areas in Greenville that are have sidewalks, neighbors who walk around and know each other, etc? We're looking for neighborhoods with a community feel rather than people just coming home and clamming up inside.
-Schools- do most people in that town choose private schools? So far we've read about Tower Hill and Tatnall- are there others to look at as well? Is admission to these schools very competitive in the younger grades?
Thanks.

Default Greenville schools

As for schools, I recommend AI du Pont High School. Even though it's a public school, it's top rated in the country and many kids transfer there from local private schools. AI has a world-famous marching band, very high test scores, and great sports teams.

I myself live in Greenville apartments, an old apartment neighborhood. However, I have friends that live really close. I can't remember the name of their neighborhood but the main road is Berkely rd. Everyone there is very nice and the houses are "comfortable" to say the least. The main drive in is lined with trees and there is a local country club. Most people in the neighborhood are familiar with each other and often you will see people out for a walk.

I grew up in the area....went to AI high school and marched in that band....AI is an excellent school. If you are going to spend that money, look in Westover Hills and Rockford Park area. Hockessin is also a nice family friendly area with lots of big, beautiful homes. Greenville, I think, is a little more "upscale, rural".
