Question Monthly Utilities

Hi everyone,

I will be moving into Bear, De at around the end of january/early feb. Can someone please give me an idea of how much monthly utilities will be for a 3400 sq ft home? I'm projecting this will include gas, electric, water, trash. Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

- Lay

We pay between $275 and $365 for gas and electric (Delmarva). In months like this where we don't need heat or ac, our bill might even be below $200 per month. Even though there was a large increase in utility rates, we have actually seen our bill go down. Either we are using less electric and gas (I did not use the gas fireplace last year) or the increase was not as much as anticipated. Water (Artesian Water) runs us between $75 and $85 every three months. Trash pickup is usually charged for 3 months. We use Independent Disposal out of Townsend and with one pick up per week, we pay about $65 for the three months. Our community gets a discount (at least that is what we are told) because most of us use IDS. Check with the president of your association if you are in a development. IDS does more than one pick up per week if you need it, and they are very good about taking large items without notice.

Thanks a lot SXMGirl. I was worried about the utilities bill after reading about the rate increase on this forum. This move is already a big step for my family so reading about rate increase did not help my buyer's remorse go away. =P I just wanted to make sure what we were getting ourselves into.
