Remember how I mentioned that in DE some bills that are introduced can disappear in committee before they are even heard or discussed?

Well, here's one about land rent and other points of interest for residents of these communities. Again, don't forget the comments which follow the article in today's News Journal.

So has this bill disappeared not to return? I feel pretty safe at SM. The owners are pretty fair. I have seen this already.

Thank you Rockky.........I was just talking about this with my DE. sister this morning.........
Problem is some landlords are completely not fair to their leased-lot owners.
My sisters land rent went up one thousand each YEAR for the past three years. All of a sudden this time its only 300.00.......HUmmmmmm, thinking the man in charge is finally getting word he is out of control!
I'm hearing he took a full two page ad out to defend himself.
I havn't read it. But, to me........there is no defense in making land lots rise so much that someone would become practically homeless.
Certified threats of taking ones home..........( within a couple of business days, good god)
Some of these Landowners need a heart. Life should just not be all business........you have to be able to face yourself in the mirror.
There is one big wig in LN who needs this law, to slow down his greedy mind.

I didn't read the entire article, but this phenomenon is NOT unique to DE. We moved here from central NC, and the problem is going on there too. We lived in such a community for over 5 years (until summer 2003), and experienced it first hand. Several neighbors were in the spot of lot rent was more expensive than the home payment, and folks on fixed income had no choice but to pay it as they could not afford to move. As far as I know, there is no attempt to curb the situation (at least in the county we were in).

My opinion is... be glad the issue has made it to the attention of the state government!
