Getting Together (Dover, Felton: college, living, restaurants)

Hi all,

I posted a few times in the 55+ thread a couple months ago and haven't been posting (just lurking) since then.

My dh & I are coming down to Delaware to visit our kids who live over in the Pinehurst sub in Felton next week. We'll be there for about a week and a half before heading for points south. We'll be the ones with the big motorhome in the driveway. LOL! Since we are interested in Summer Meadows, we will probably go visit again and see what's new since last July. I'd love to get together with anybody for lunch one day. Post here or send me a private email and I'll get back to you.

It's starting to cool off here in Michigan, so it's time to head south for the winter.

It is getting about time for the ladies to meet for lunch. We probably will get together one day next week. We sample local diners, and typically don't plan the place until the date is figured out.

I'll check in with the girls and see what we can pull together. I'm sure they will come along and post here as well.

Hi Jonalyn...............I live in Southern Meadows. You will find a few more homes since July.
Like MaryCh said, we get together to sample local diners. Hope you can make it.

I think I will be good for Tuesday. How about the rest of you? Now we just have to decide on a place to meet.
Anywhere is fine with me. I'm not good for Wednesday next week but think that is about the only day I'm not good.

I think I'm good for either Tuesday or Thursday. The boys and I are heading south Thursday afternoon, so I would do good to be well fortified at lunchtime!

LASH is traveling again, but should return well before either day. Perhaps she will sign in; if not, I'll speak to her early next week. Since you other ladies have been here a bit longer than us, you pick our poison! Something was mentioned the last time about a Chinese place near both of you.... how does that sound?

elizamary & PA... I think I can find my bells, and a few extra to loan both you gals! Or do you think the Chinese folks will ban us at the door if we all come in doing the jingle bell thing???

PA.......I'm in Maine right now and don't have my calendar but I think Thurs will be fine. Better call home and tell Bill to look for those bells.
Chinese sounds good to me. Haven't had for a while. There are a few places on 13. Any suggestions from anyone? We want the best chinese in Dover

Hi Ladies,

I posted earlier about meeting some of you for lunch next week. I would love to go Thursday, but my brother and I (who is driving over from Ellicott City, MD) have an appointment at Westminster Village Retirement Home in Dover on Thursday around 2:30. We are looking for a place for our mom to move to if and when we can finally get out of Michigan and move to Delaware. She is presently living in Florida and we want her to be close to us.

Slightly off-topic, but does anybody know anybody who lives in Westminster Village? It's over by the hospital, I think, in the west side of town.

If Thursday only is good for the lunch bunch, please go ahead with your plans. If Wed or Friday is good, those days are good for me. Otherwise, I'll just pop in and visit Debbie and Marta at the Southern Meadows office. We'll be in the area at our son's home from Oct 30-Nov 10.

Actually, if we wait until the following week for lunch, it would work better for me. I don't know about the other ladies; I'm sure they will check in soon.

The boys and I are leaving Thursday right after school (Nov 1st) for a long weekend in NC. I think I posted elsewhere I have some things to tend to regarding our daughter, who stayed in NC with my folks. I think we should be back late on Tues, Nov 6th, assuming all goes well. But I should be free Wed the 7th-Fri the 9th.

Either week is fine with me; although Monday, 10/30 I will be tied up in the morning with a meeting with the autism specialists about our son. The appt is 9:15, and I have no idea how long it might run. But I think any other day I'm free. We'll see what the other ladies have to say.

Since we are so new, I have not heard about Westminster Village. I will ask around, as I have made several acquaintances since we've moved here. And if you haven't guessed yet, I'm not shy about asking! I do know there has been some bad press about "elder-care" lately, but I think that is a national problem. So either way you go, just keep on your toes and stay in close contact with the staffing.
