The storm isn't 20 ft wide or 20 miles wide, it's wind can be felt over 500 miles away, just because the eye might go through Jersey doesn't mean other states aren't going to be affected.

There has been a mandatory evacuation issued for coastal communities in Sussex, Kent and New Castle counties, along with a flood-prone area in western Sussex County. The shelters open at noon on Sunday.

We're in the evacuation zone. We were in Irene, too. Fortunately, we're literally one street into the zone. The kids and I are heading further into Middletown to stay with friends, DH is staying here. Lots of our neighbors are staying, too.

Just pointing it out, it is only a cat 1, but still you should prepare, from someone who lives in a place where we get hit. A lot. The beaches will most likely erode badly, like they did here after Tropical storm Debby.
