I am wondering which direction should the house better faces in Texas, so the house is bright during the day but does not get too hot in the summer?

I saw a house facing west once. It was in New Hampshire. Or was it facing east? Hmmmm. Great, now I'm thinking it could have been Connet, Connec, Vermont.
