Hi All! I just moved down to DE this past October and I'm looking to rent a beach house for the week this summer. I know that there are several choices - Lewes, Bethany, Dewey, Rehobeth - but I'm not sure which one would be a good fit for us. I'm not into a heavy bar scene and my son is 19 years old. My mom and her fiance will be coming with us and they are in their 60's. Basically, we want the beach and a good choice of restaurants - a boardwalk to check out and walk around in the evenings. Any thoughts? Also any suggestions for Realtors would be great! Thanks.

Hi, welcome to DE. If you aren't into the party scene, you definitely want to eliminate Dewey. Bethany is pretty quiet and has their own boardwalk. Lewes has a very nice downtown area and Cape Henlopen State Park as well as Lewes Beach on the bay, however, no boardwalk.

I can't recommend Rehoboth Beach enough. It has everything you are looking for and not the same "bar scene" as Dewey which is the only real reason to go there. Rehoboth has the best restaurants in the Delaware shore (Pig & Fish, Salt Air, Purple Parrot, Claws, etc..) and a great family feel. Not sure of how you are politically but the LGBT scene is woven peacefully in Rehoboth and the gay folks do their own thing at their own beach. Should you be religious and this is not your thing, you may not like RB. In every way, I think it is the best beach in the region with fireworks on the 4th like no other!

Funny, but I am not living there yet and it hurts my ears too. The only place that has a "shore" is Jersey.
