I live in the Middletown area and I am in need of a honest and affordable auto mechanic. Does anyone have any suggestions for the surrounding area?

They aren't in Middletown, they are on Kirkwood Highway in Wilm. Kirkwood auto. We've been using them for years. They have fixed everything that we asked them to fix without finding the " extras" that you need to fix right now.

Used to go to Dempseys (Whitemans Garage) and never felt comfortable with the place. Everything was $500.00 +. They did a good job fixing everything but I always felt ripped off.

I can tell you for tires and brakes, I have used Ron's discount tires on Naaman's Rd (at Marsh Rd) without issue in the past...Ron Jr. may seem a little short but they don't go overboard and only recommend what is needed
I got tires from him and my brakes were looking bad (I knew it but didn't have the money to fix them right then and there and he was cool about it - I came back a week later when I did have the $$$ and he fixed them right up, no issues)

I have a friend who will only use Sevy's in New Castle. They have been in business a long time and are located in Route 273.

I use Joe & Tonys on Philadelphia Pike, Claymont area. They've been there forever and have excellent reputation, of course if your not in the North Wilmington area you may not want to travel. Seems to be a minimal of auto mechanics with a good reputation out there.

We take our vehicles to Scotti's Mufflers in Camden, and they have a shop in Middletown somewhere. I am going to the Camden location tomorrow; I will pick up their card with the address in Middletown. Honestly, I don't know how competitive they are in pricing, but we have been very happy with the repairs, etc.

It use to be a great place to get work done, now they rip you off fixing everything but what you asked to have fixed. I loved that place til the new owners took over a few years ago. Be carefull there, great place for muffler work but not anything else.

Wow, bibbob00, that is NOT good news! We have not had a problem, with any of our old clunkers, so I guess we have been lucky! It may help that my hubby has a mechanical background, and the folks at Scotti's know it.

Other than them, I have no idea about shops in Middletown. To the OP, have you had any luck in finding a good one?

Mary
