When I was looking for a house my realtor mentioned that you could get summer passes for parking at the beaches. I never followed up with her to see where passes might be obtained and where the parking is. I have been to Cape Henlopen State Park beach and saw parking lots, but did not see that a pass or payment might be needed to park there. I know you have to pay to enter the park and there is an annual pass for that. Is there other parking, maybe down near the dunes off Rt.1?

I guess I am wondering where the best places are to access the beach (least crowded?) closest to Lewes and Rehoboth. I am too far away not to drive, so I will have to park. My plans are to not visit the ocean on the weekends, just some weekdays. (Maybe I can get a senior discount because I am over 60 now!) Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say 'near the dunes off Rt. 1' when asking about Rehoboth and Lewes parking.

The dunes I know are on Rt. 1 leading from Dewey Beach to Indian River Bridge. If that's what you're asking, I would say the Keybox and Coin Roads are a good idea. They are quiet beaches. Here's a link showing the parking areas:

Yes, rdlr, sorry not to be aware of the dividing lines. Thank you.

Go to the State Park office at Cape Henlopen to get your annual pass. You will get a better price if you have switched to DE tags. Once through the gate all parking areas are free. (Except over night camping) I'm not sure what the age is to begin getting senior rates. (It's been a while for me!)
