Hey Gang,
I just went on line to the Dover Downs Casino web site. They have several food venues - deli to fine dinning. And, I noticed the Festival Buffet has an Asian Station. Good luck and good eating. I've spent many a day and night at the casino. I helped build the hotel with my losses.

The Lobby house is good too, been there.

I don't know if it was you that suggested the buffet lunch at Dover Downs, but that sounds great, Doesn't it girls?
I know you all want Chinese so Chinese it is this time.
Whatever suits y'all is fine with me. BTW I found two coupons for Chinese. Old Town Buffet in Rodney Village ( near Ollies/ Goodwill), and China Town Buffet ( near TJ Max). Any comments +/- on these?

The buffet at Dover Downs is pretty good. If you join the Casino Club before you go upstairs to the buffet, I think you get a slight discount. Also, I think that as the day gets later, the price goes up ... so an early lunch might be the way to go. My wife and I have enjoyed many visits to the buffet. The desserts are outstanding!!

Eliza, thanks for the welcome back. As a result of the trip, and my husband's new job (!), which he will start in two weeks, we are going to be moving. He will be outta here first. Why do I think I've got a lot of work ahead of me here, and my own deadlines to meet too??!!

From PA, about your possibilities for Chinese. Again, I won't be much help--but Rodney Village in general, not so good. I've never been to China Town Buffet, but let me know, please, if you go there, because it's closest to us, if it's where I think it is.

Rockky, my friends have said to stay away from the King's Buffet, but I've not tried it. In total agreement with you about Delaware Today magazine. Charley makes a point about The New Yorker prettying up aspects of NYC, but I did live in NYC for several years, and grew up near it, so my opinion is that at least New York has a lot of what we see in The New Yorker--style, culture, a multitude of things to do that are fun and interesting, whereas the part of Delaware that Delaware Today largely focuses on, well, not so much, though more of some things than the counties to the south. Sorry, Charley! But I have been exploring this state for the past 15 years, so I get to have an opinion, right? As for Kent and Sussex counties, y'all know from my Delaware good things list that we've found some things to like, in fact, throughout the state. I love some shore areas of Sussex and if they had really good medical care and some good houses for a lot less, I think my husband and I, and several other family groups now located in Kent might be living there! So that's high praise, don't you think?

Lori

I agree with you, Lori. Like I've said, I still love the beach and my little sanctuary there in Sussex. I still had a hospital and full time living in PA to be my foundation. The only things that would keep me from moving to the beach, alone forever, would be the traffic and health care options....mostly the health care.

The quality of living in Dover was not like the beach. Other parts of Kent County may be great! I can't speak personally about anywhere other than where I lived. I respect your views and your point that you have lived in metro Dover area for a long time. You've certainly had more experience there than I, and you have done the day to day thing...not what is complied on paper.

I wish everyone the best in their choices and quality of life. I sincerely do. I also respect your opinion and experiences and believe that they need to be part of this discussion as well.

Let us know how you are doing with the major changes in your life!! I hope you will still be around here. (((Lori)))

Oh, yeah, I wasn't too keen on trying King's. The neighbors loved it, and this was the couple from New York City. They were friendly with the people who own it, and this couple liked the better things.

I was discussing this thread with hubby while having dinner tonight at Where Pigs Fly . Anyway, I told him that I was impressed with the Dover Downs website and that they have stepped it up a notch or two since we first visited there. I proceeded to tell him that they even have a Toppers Spa.
With a gleam in his eye he repeated what he thought he heard. He said you mean the have a topless bar ?????
He still insists that is what I said.

Clarification re those Chinese restaurants! I've never been to the one at Rodney village, but that area, that particular shopping center, is not the best. However, 'nother clarification here, I haven't been to Rodney Village for several years! I only pass it driving south on 13 to Killens Pond State Park, which I love, and which those of you who enjoy walking should visit. If LASH is reading this, I think I mentioned that there's a beautiful trail around the pond, through woods, that is just about perfect for walking your dog this time of year. (Or if I didn't mention it, then Julie might have.)

Charley, thanks for allowing me to have my opinion!

Rockky, I'd tend to trust your friends in regard to Kings Buffet, since they're from NY. Mine are not sophisticated eaters. And thanks so much for all the kind things you said. In fact, I find I will miss a lot in Dover, though mostly the closeness of family here. But there are places that are heart tuggers, so associated with good memories when the children were young, that it will be hard to leave in a number of ways. We will be moving across the country and though my husband has warned me when it comes to giving out too many details online (just soooo bossy), I can tell you we'll be on the outskirts of a large city, and that we have friends there, and things do seem to be falling into place. Our daughter, a recent college grad, has established herself in this vicinity. SHE is not too happy about our move! In fact, she's almost 50 miles from where we expect to be, so we won't be invading her territory constantly, I almost promise!
