I am a young professional who will be working in Wilmington this summer and am thinking about subletting a place at Pennsylvania Ave. & Woodlawn Ave. I will only be there for 2 1/2 months or so. I am told that this is a decent middle-class area. Can anyone confirm the character of the surrounding neighborhood?

Also, my plan is take the 20 bus from here to Rodney Square for work each day. Does anyone have any experience riding the Wilmington bus? Does it tend to be on time? Is it safe? It is only a mile and a half ride each way for me so I don't foresee any major issues, but I wanted to get input from residents.

Thanks!

Yes, that's a good area. Would it be feasible for you to bike to work? That would be more efficient than waiting for the bus. That said, the best times for the bus up and down Pennsylvania Ave/Rt 52 into downtown would be during the morning and late afternoon work rush hours.

Thanks Jeff, that is consistent with what the lessor told me and what I have read elsewhere.

I don't own a bike and it doesn't seem like downtown is too bike-friendly. I will typically be commuting during the work rush hour, so hopefully the buses are on time then.
