We have visited NC, PA, Southern NJ and when I come back to central NJ I feel like this is where I should stay. BUT with $12,000 a year in property tax I know I gotta go.
WE just started looking at DE property on the realtor sites and the prices are much lower for something a little smaller than we have here.(3,000sf). We no longer need 5 BR or two living rooms so we are thinking 2,000 sf should be plenty for us. I don't see us in a retirement community as I would like at least an acre so I can still keep my toys(men never do grow up) but I don't want to be saddled with high property taxes. Beach property is not important but close by shopping and accessability to good medical care is (just in case). Any suggestions from the DE experts? BTW A little South of Dover looks interesting. Thanks in advance, E |

I'm no Delaware expert. I plan to leave Rockland (NY) for the same reason you're looking to leave Jersey. My taxes are off the hook! But the retirement community is exactly what we seek.
We're in a four bedroom, eleven room house on half an acre and that's way more than we need. We actually live in about half of the house. So a nice 2 or 3 bedroom house on a small piece of land is plenty for us. The person who buys my house can have my toys! I'll be more than happy to let someone mow for me, trim for me, shovel for me, etc, while I hang around with my friends at the clubhouse. I want that socialization that is lacking here. Everyone here is so busy traveling to and from work, shuttling kids to and from soccer practice, and NOT socializing with each other. I want that 55+ community life. Charley |

Charley,
As I've mentioned, I pass Noble's Pond at least once a week. I know you haven't decided yet, but that certainly is one impressive clubhouse! Lori |

I also want to see a few houses in their varying phases of readiness to see foundations and structures and all that good stuff. The visible areas of the homes are gorgeous. I'd like to be sure that some of the non-visible areas are also up to the same standard. Charley |
