Catching up on the fly again... Jonalyn, the week of Jan 20th sounds great from where I sit right now. Schools are closed in our district on the 21st and 22nd, for MLK Day and then a teacher in-service (must be end of marking period), but Wed, Thur, and Fri I should be free for lunch. Hope your mom travels well, and likes W.V. as that would be a load off your mind, I am sure. I'll say a few prayers, keep some fingers crossed, etc. and all that.

As far as the house way out there in Michigan... we will be in the market hopefully this summer, but we like it in DE so all I can do is wish ya luck. Try elizamary's "trick"... all you have to lose is the cost of the statue. I do hear the market is not improving for sellers, but at least you and hubby are in a position to get out of Dodge (MI, that is) for the worst weather! Let's hope a spring thaw brings you seller's luck as well.

BTW - I haven't forgotten you want copies of our lunch pictures... I'll make sure to get extra copies made before the lunch in a few weeks to hand over the table. We all are concerned about posting personal pics on the web, so hope this will be acceptable. Besides, peeweeaz and others that haven't met our social director (AKA elizamary) need to stay in the dark about our wonder woman!

Safe traveling to you and hubby... anyone remember the Irish prayer along the lines of "May the Road Rise Up to Meet You", etc? That comes to mind to extend to all for travel wishes. For us, I was glad school started back today... I'll get some travel rest myself now!

Mary

bdavis949 is on a distinguished road
We are looking to move to Delaware in 2009. We are researching the Dover area. The homes seem to be reasonably priced. Any recommendations on developments or areas in Dover. Should we be concerned about moving to close to the Air force base? Where is the prison located in Delaware, don't want to move close to it either. Recommendations and realtors will be appreciated.

Barb, There is so much to choose from in the Dover area, I wouldn't know where to begin. It's a buyers' market, and there are many reductions on homes. I'm about 3 miles from Dover Air Force Base, and have never been concerned. I don't hear any noise, just an occasional C-5. Those living in the flight path of DAFB either love it, or hate it. The base surely hasn't stopped people from moving into the area, and we have had a boom of new construction and transplants from New Jersey, PA, NY and others places. We have no sales tax, and beaches are close by. The prison is located east of Smyrna, and is the "big" one in Delaware. I'd say, do a Goggle search and find a Dover, Delaware Realtor. As a buyer, a Realtor won't cost you anything. He/she will send you packets on the geographical area, and can provide you with current listings. You'll need to narrow down your search to school district (if applicable), price range, and style of home, i.e. townhouse, single family detached, etc. The sky's the limit!

Where are you moving from? We live 10 mins south of Dover in Magnolia.
Just moved here almost a year ago and so happy with our decsion to so so.

Delly's post pretty much covers it all. We moved from Philly and living here is much cheaper in a lot of areas.

I did too Delly. Some of our friends and family were puzzled as to why we would move to DE
We mainly moved here because of the finances and more value in home for our money plus no sales tax.
After moving here, there was so much more. And the people...........the people are so friendly. We were discussing this with others in my community the other day and we all agreed how friendly the people are.
I too sent this to my friends and email buddies.
You look at the clip and it spells our how nice a place de is to live.
Thanks,
I put it in my favorites.
