WOW...I read a good chunk of this thread (after posting an inquiry with no responses), and it seems as though DE wouldn't be a good "fit" for me as my main reason is the taxes. PA Delco taxes are becoming beyond outrageous, and it soooooo pisses me off! My home was purchased outright due to the kindness of my late Father, but even with two part-time jobs, I have a tough time. High taxes (and private healthcare) doesn't help much. I was looking to save some major money per year in a place that I found comfortable. But let's face it: 300K and under isn't going to get me a decent single close to the PA line from what I can tell.

To the OP: Very well done; greatly enjoyed reading your thoughts. I've only been to CO once, and stayed in Estes Park (in the 70's; before it was a tourist trap), and ADORED Rocky Mt. National Park. Would love to visit again. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AND YOURS!

Good for you ! I used to live in Denver and can understand your desire to be there. If it weren't so expensive, houses and COL, I would probably be back there.

Good luck in Denver. You'll have new acquaintances to meet that you couldn't meet in DE such as the Brown Recluse & Black Widow spiders. "All that glitters is not gold".

Oh, we have those types of spiders here in delaware. I've have seen a few brown recluses and knew a person who was bit and had to endure the painful treatment for such a bite. As for Black widows, I've seen hundreds of them.

I've lived in DE all my life and was bitten by a brown recluse a few years ago, right in my own home! I stepped on it while I was barefoot. It bit me, but I think it died before releasing venom because I did not become ill. It really hurt though!

I've also seen many black widows.

Yep, me, too.....(but I've not been bitten). Around the St. Jones River marshy area, near Magnolia, is where I've seen the most.

Brown Recluse & Black Widow spiders are not native to DE, I can't help but wonder if posters are making identification mistakes. Well here's another the OP may encounter in CO......the AZ Bark Scorpion, are yall gonna tell me you've seen them too here in DE? LOL!!

No mistake, not a joke, and certainly not funny.
