Default Moving to Dover in 3 months

I am from Oklahoma...where I have lived all my life. I am nervous about moving but have recently gotten married to a military man stationed in Delaware. Currently I am in the apartment industry but am open to options. Any ideas of where to begin looking for employment? Help!!!

How about DAFB???? Look on the AFPC website and see what is available. You get spouse preference.

Dover is nice, i have been on the base a few times. Drop me a PM when you get there and I can give you some ideas for good eats and stuff to do.

Are you staying on base?

There are quite a few apt complexes in Dover area as well, you can look them up on your favorite apartment finder site.

Also there is Dover Downs, which is a racetrack and casino. Might be employment there. You should have a pretty good support base being a military wife. Usually coworkers and military wives can get you started in the right direction.

Have fun and relax. Being a military wife is great and you have a lot of benefits and support. I have been one for almost 9 years now, DH has been in for almost 10.

Funny...I'm from Delaware and am currently living in Oklahoma because of my military husband! He's been in the Navy for 20 years. I miss DE and try to get back about once a year. You'll like it out there (I hope!). I've enjoyed OK--the people are so nice and things are pretty quiet until OU football starts. I live in Norman. We're about to move back to the East coast since my husband's stationed at the Pentagon. Good luck in DE and with your military life. You will have lots of support from other military wives from your husband's squadron or wherever he works. Don't be afraid to ask for help for anything. There's so much help out there. You should enjoy having the opportunity to see other parts of the country that you would otherwise never visit---take advantage of all there is to do at each of your duty stations. As far as work, yes try the Dover AFB...you could even try the housing office, since you have experience in that area. The benefits should be good and you could ride to work with your husband!

Have fun and good luck.
