Hi nc,
Enjoy the ocean!
Maybe someone will come along and tell you which restaurants in the area remain open. Some up the road in Rehoboth are open during off-season.
Walk. Look for shells and sea glass. Listen to the gulls.

Lori,
Just by reading the message, you made it seem so restful and serene. I'm sitting quietly by the computer ... and I can hear the gulls. Your message came at a good time. Thanks.
NC,
Here is the Bethany Beach town website. This might give you a place to start your search for activities. Good luck, and like Lori says, enjoy the beach. Even in winter, the sights and sounds can be so peaceful.

Thanks, Charley.
I'll miss the Delaware beaches. Some of the West Coast beaches are spectacular, but if I were deciding where to live based left or right coast beaches, I'd stick with the right, the Atlantic.

Lori............The beaches are great. And ride down anytime time of the year. Were just there Black Friday with our grand daughter. Was a bit too windy and cold though.
I have to learn to dress with more layers and scarfs when it is like that.
Before when we lived in Philly, it was always a 2 hour drive to the beach.
Now it is 35 minutes. We plan to visit from time to time all year.
When we first moved here, we drove all the way down to Ocean city to check out all the beaches along the way.
Was a great day and we have to do this again

there is nothing to do in the off-season, seriously. A lot of stores down there are closed. A lot of places that are usually open are closed as well. So, your going to go to a beach full of closed shops. I could see it being busy if there were people there constantly ,but there are seasons for that.

I beg to differ carguy. We love to just go down and walk the beach. I love the ocean in the winter. Rehobeth has nice boards to walk on.
correction........I said we when I mean I. My husband complains about being too cold.
I do think there are a few restaurants that are still open. Not sure but we went down last April and a few were open while most shops were closed.
Guess it's not for everyone.

Well,it really does depend on who you are. Everybody has different interests. I agree, Rehoboth does have nice boards. Ocean City,MD has nice boards too, and its only about a half hour to 45 minutes further south. Ocean City is awesome, because there is water on both sides of the main drag . I like going down there when there is a lot of people. I'm single, not married yet,and looking. Obviously,For me, going to the beach when there is nobody there is really pointless. I don't mind the crowds, but there are people who do mind the crowds. It takes all kinds of people to make a world. Just like, there are people who like going to the beaches when nobody is there. It just depends on the people, there interests, and so on. I was just saying that in general there isn't much to do during the off season. Down there when everything is in season its a fun place. You could enjoy the scenery though, and the fact that there isn't a ton of people clogging the roadways. An you could go biking ,and other stuff. If you like taking pictures the off season is one of the better times to go to the beach to take pictures. What you enjoy depends on who you are.

Carguy,
You are so right. It does matter what your personal situation requires.
My hub and I are older so we like it quiet.
When I was younger and single, I loved crowds and a lot of action. Quietness would not fly with me back then.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
