I was researching Fieldstone Village in Dover, and saw that the closest grocery was a Redner's Warehouse Market. What is Redner's like? Does it compare to a Costco? How does it compare to WalMart?

I am interested in a place where I could walk to a grocery store or use a golf cart. It looks very feasible from Fieldstone Village. Can anyone comment?

It's nothing like Costco or Walmart. It's just a normal grocery store that tends to be on the cheap side.

Thanks. I liked that it is employee-owned.

We go to the Redner's in Camden, all the time, and it's a pretty good walk for us.....5 minutes in the car, though. We love Redner's, and have been to the Dover one by Fieldstone Village a few times. Both stores are clean, neat, and well stocked. Employees are very friendly, and parking is close, unlike WalMart where you have to walk so far to get in the store. I especially love the half size carts at Redner's. I'm so glad they built a new store close to us! Seems we go almost every day for something.

I totally agree with everything rdlr said. We moved here in November and we are always at Redner's. We love it too.

We love Redner's! But then again, I hate grocery shopping at the big box stores (Sam's, COSTCO, BJ's), and Walmart drives me insane. Being employee owned is a big plus to us, as is the charitable policy Redner's has... there are several organizations that have benefited greatly from Redner's 5% of receipt total policy. ARC, which we are a member of since we have a son with autism, is my current "habit" of choice.

The Redner's near Fieldstone Village is easily walkable; rdlr, is that location considered Dover, or Clayton/Cheswold? I always think of the Redner's on Route 8 as the Dover store... you've been here much longer than we have though!

I too like the 1/2 carts; much more easy to manage both in the store AND at checkout. Maneuverability can be a BIG issue on good days AND bad!

Mary

I don't shop at Redner's often because my husband can be a little picky about certain items, however, if I didn't have to go to Safeway for his specific item I would go there more! I love how the options! There are so many different types/brands that I can really compare. We try not to eat too much in the way of processed foods so I am ingredient reader and I love being able to see what each brand has and find the best one. In fact, I should make a trip to Redners to check out some baking items I can't seem to find anywhere else.
