Was sitting in my beach chair at the bay to watch the sunset in North Cape May last week and saw 2 shark fins glide across the water about 50 feet off shore (maybe a little closer). It was about 6 pm and the tide was coming in. Have never seen anything like it in my life. Freaked me out a little because I swim in the bay and watch the sunset while floating only raft...don't think I'll do that anymore. (Huge fin...maybe 5' shark). Nurse shark? Sand Bar shark?

Crazy. Are you sure they were sharks though and not something else?

Exactly -- you're much more likely to see dolphin fins than sharks. Lots of dolphins in the Cape May area too.

I am 100% positive that they were sharks. I have been going to Cape May my entire life...My parents live there, my grandmother lives there (Father AND Grandfather were lifeguards there). I have seen dolphins and I know what they look like, I know there behavior. I actually saw 2 large shark at dusk swimming what I consider to be close to the shore considering I am out much further in my kayak...even on a raft (which I won't be doing any time soon). It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I would say we were about 30-40 minutes to a full sunset. Their fins were out of the water and they were gliding across the water for an extended period. Long enough for myself and one other person to notice, sit up in our beach chairs and say "SHARK"!

Shark tracker is pretty cool. One of the largest of the tagged great whites has been within 50 yards of shore in parts of FL.
