since considering moving to Wilmington , I was wondering if the salt air from being so close to Coast ruins everything. My mother in law lived for years five houses in from ocean in NJ and the salt air did damage to her house and car paint etc. Is that a problem in Wilmington, or is it only in the beach itself a problem. Also does any locals have any info on Riverlights community is it on hold forever because I cant find any info except old news articles about it.

You will have no problem with "salt air" in Wilmington..Five houses in from the ocean there might be a problem. However I live within easy walking distance of one of the bays and have not even thought of salt air damage until reading your post.

The rivers and creeks around Wilmington are all fresh water flowing out into the Delaware river and then the bay. There is not much chance of salt air damage in Wilmington; maybe smog damage.
