ElizaMary, Was it you asking where the Countrie Eatery is? Well, anyway, it's very near you. From your place, just shoot across Rt. 13 to State Street, and it's on the right, just before where they plowed down the Blue Coat Inn. It has the cow out front (I mean a picture of one)
One of our favorite places is the new BONZ (bones) restaurant in the Harrington Raceway and Casino. It's very classy, and you will be pampered. We love it for a treat! I usually get the fillet mignon, mashed garlic potatoes, and what are those light and fluffy crispy onions called? Anyway, everything is delicious, as well as the red wine!

Hi Delly,
Yes, I think it was me that asked about the countrie eatery. But guess what? We were out with friends today and stopped their for lunch.
I was quite impressed. Very good food, service and reasonably priced.
I certainly would go again.
Before Christmas we were at Bonz and had a fabulous dinner. Food was excellent. It was certainly fine dining which we can't afford to do all the time but once in a while for something special, it was wonderful.

I feel the same way about the Countrie Eatery. It's one of my "regular" stops whenever in town.

Hi Laurel....Southern Meadows is a 55+ community in which we live.
There is a pool, gym and clubhouse where we have different activities.
Right now, the community is only 1/4 full so we do not have a whole lot of people for the activities but that will come after all the homes are sold.
It is fun and we have met a lot of very nice people.
For jewerly making, one of our residents does this and she taught us. We have also had card making and different crafts.
There are games like bingo, poker and mexican dominos. Also, some get together 2 days a week for table talk. This is where they make coffee and gab about anything. If you miss one day, you dont' miss much cuz the next session everything will be repeated a few more times. LOL

Even if I did forge my drivers license to say I'm 55 (and I thought days of forging licenses were over HA) how would I get my 6 dogs in? I could shave them and pass them for ugly grandkids, but they would get suspicious if they never went home drat, and they move around to much to be garden gnomes. Hmmm... I'll have to think about that one a little more.

On the other side of the coin, friends........We don't frequent the Countrie Eatery too much because the tables are too close together, and over the years, have found the food to be so-so. It's way down the list with us. Many love the place and atmosphere, though. I'll have to take a picture of the scene on race weekend, when the campers/tourists walk from Dover Downs and form a line out in the parking lot! Kirby & Holloway is another favorite, about 2 blocks away on Rt. 13, and while the atmosphere at K & H is not as quaint, we find the food to be better, and service quicker. I will say, I like the Eatery and Kirby & Holloway better than the chain type places for breakfast, such as Bob Evans, and etc. Back in the "old days" when we were teenagers, Kirby & Holloway was a drive in restaurant, and roller skaters brought our orders out, propped the tray on the side of our car, and we ate in the car! Oh..........memories! The Dairy Queen and K & H were the only places to get a burger and shake in those days.

Having stayed at the Fairfield across the street, we tried K&H and didn't like it at all. Maybe we should try again. We've been to Countrie Eaterie probably four or five times and always had a good meal, good service, etc.
Like everything else, it's different strokes for different folks.
Charley
P.S. I had never noticed anything about the tables being close. I wonder if it's just set up the same way as it is in New York and therefore I never noticed a difference?

Yep, different strokes, Charlie!
Many like Halls Family Restaurant, in Wyoming for breakfast, also. That one comes to mind when thinking of non-chain type places.
Our professional group 8-10 people used to have lunch at the Countrie Eatery, but crossed it off our list about a year ago, for a number of reasons. We liked it better when it was the Blue Coat Inn Pancake House, and it changed hands a few years ago. We tried a small restaurant in Smyrna, on Glenwood Avenue, and it was good. Darn, can't think of the name right now, but I'll work on it. Also, the Smyrna Diner is either hated, or loved! It's not for us. Peggy's just north of Greenwood on Rt. 13 is a good place to go. We really like it. Dover Downs has a tremendous breakfast buffet, or at least they did. We haven't been there in about six months, because we are just south of Dover and the traffic is so bad north of Dover (by our standards).
Bottom line, it's an individual decision, as we said.
