Hum.....Just goes to show to you, not everyone has the same ratings.
I spoke to a waitress who is a local last night and she told me Meddings has great crabs. They crab for them themselves. So she said.
I have had good food in meddings and not so good.
Seafood city was too expensive.....In my opinion.
Not an olive garden person. I go but basically, there food is mediocore in my opinion.
Now roma.....heard from 2 people. One said it was fantastic and the other hated it.
So I guess it is best to go and see for yourself.
Not everything is fried in Shuckers Delly. Bill had the broiled shrimp and scallop platter last night.
How one person sees it is not necessarily how another sees it. Gotta go and try it out for yourself. Of course, recommendations are also important but then see for yourself.
For me.........nothing can compare to Gallos in Northeast Philly. The best in seafood.
In this area, I have not found anything that even comes close.
My opinion...........

Shuckers Ugh! Everything's fried, and not local seafood. Most locals won't go near the place, and newcomers think they're eating Delaware Bay seafood.
Seafood City Ugh! I went twice. First time fried flounder, which was mushy. Second time was steamed shrimp....mushy!
Roma was the place to go and it was the only Italian restaurant around 20 years ago, or more. I hate to say this, but the Olive Garden has better Italian. I always try to support local, and typically don't like chains....but......
Annie....have you been to the Cultured Pearl in Rehoboth? I've been hearing raves about that place, and I know they closed and are opening across the street....Baltimore Avenue? or someplace?
For crabs, or a crab cake sandwich, and local gossip, I love Sambos!
For a family affair or group....crabs, hodge podge buckets, and swamp water, I love The Boondocks
For beer, snacks and live music.... JW's at the Hamlet in Dover, and JP's on the Wharf in North Bowers
Top of the Sheraton was our hangout every Friday night for many years, and they had a nice buffet, and we could also order from the menu. They had a DJ, or band, and a great dance floor. We haven't been in 6 months, so I don't know how it is now, or if it's still open. We had great fun there! But, I digress........

I'm afraid I can't help at all regarding "Meddings" or Seafood City. Years ago, we thought Roma was pretty good, but at some point, not. Shuckers was a years ago experiment, and we didn't return, but we should give them another chance.
I would like to see a couple excellent restaurants, affordable, come to the Dover area. We'll be seeing the reopening of some of our closed-for-the-winter favorites in Rehoboth soon. We've been there a couple times recently, but just to enjoy the ocean.
Where are Mary and PA? I see Charley hasn't been posting as much either. Of course, I find I can't visit this site, sometimes for a stretch of days, so I suppose I should "allow" others to carry on with their lives!

[u]Oh and there is a great italian restaurant by the base. Very good food.
I may not be a local yocal but I do know what I like if the price is right. Now the italian restaurannt by the base is not dirt cheap. but not like a special for $5.99 like olive garden or applebees. We like the food at Applebees on Route 13 in Camden.
One of these days we must try the Village. heard it was good.

Where's that, EM ??
I stand corrected about Shuckers.....and know they have broiled, etc. But when I come out of there, my face is greasy! Remember when I said WPFly was across where I worked, and we ate there every day for a year??? Well, Shuckers is across from another place I worked, and we always walked across the highway to eat there. Could be, I get burned out on some places, and notice more, being there on a daily basis.

Not sure Delly but I think it is by Route one. I will try to pull up the site and get the correct address.
Hey these days, I want a greasy face. LOL>......
I used to have very greasy skin and went to a skin doctor for years. Then I went through changes in my old age and now I yearn for grease.
In fact, I'm now using Baby oil after my shower to get some suppleness to my skin. Turning into an old prune.
 LOL....
I can understand getting burned out with places. Can relate to that back in Philly.

We go out to eat in Rehoboth once a week during the summer and try to go to a different restaurant every week. Our favorites:
Stoney Lonen - not cheap but very, very good seafood
Fusion - on Sunday nights it's buy one entree/get one free. Amazing food.
Partners - near the traffic circle. Excellent food. Not cheap.
Fins (not to be confused with Finbar) wonderful, wonderful seafood
Dogfish Head and Irish Eyes - great burgers and beer
Nicolas - love their nicobolis
Louis on Rehoboth Ave near Dolles - fabulous greasy beach food - burgers,
cheesesteaks and beach fries.
On our list to try this year: Cultured Pearl (they moved to the 4th block of Rehoboth Ave and have a rooftop deck) Starbucks is opening down below them; Blue Moon, Espuma, and Dish!

Oh, the Village Inn in "Lil' Crik".......My friend's mother is the original owner, and just sold it 3-4 years ago. Our kids all went there for their prom/homecoming dinners, with their dates in the late 70's and 80's, because that was the only decent place to go for dinner. Then, our youngest son worked there, for 2 days as a bus boy when he was 16......he threw his apron in the bushes and drove away, one night, and then I got the phone call. "He's at work", I said. We used to go for lunch there often, up until Mrs. Roe sold it. We would get the snapper soup with sherry on the side. Now, they have limited hours, I see.....no lunch.

Kat196....Thanks for those suggestions. I like Dogfish Head and Irish Eyes. And, thanks for the directions to Cultured Peal. I MUST go there! Blue Moon wouldn't let us in there a few years ago......private party, they said.

Buffet open when?
Hi, all,
We just moved to Magnolia from PA and are trying out all the restaurants, slowly. Didn't know there was a buffet in Harrington...where? Is it open all the time?
Thanks--we're still learning our way around and would appreciate any help.
