Hi Marabeth. Welcome to the Delaware forum. I've eaten at the buffet a few times and would definitely go back. Here is the website with the details:

casino.harringtonraceway.com: Buffet

I know that some of my fellow forum members will join in with their impressions fo the buffet as well.

Charley

Harrington Raceway & Casino 11 a.m. until 9 or 10 p.m. Just Google 'Harrington Raceway & Casino" and that will tell you more.

Here for a minute! Delly, haven't tried the Cultured Pearl...wait, I think we may have been there years ago. I want to try it again, in their new location. I checked out their menu, and they have both sushi and sashimi, but also a wide range of other entrees.

ElizaM, we'll have to return to Shuckers and try the non-fried. Neither husband nor I like fried seafood, but the shrimp and scallop plate you described sounds good. I think the last time we went there, long ago, everything was fried.

Last time in Rehoboth, I noticed a Thai restaurant close to the beach. I don't know how long it has been there, since we're most often looking for seafood (or a Nicoboli at Nicola's!) when we're there, but we really like good Thai food. Does anyone know about this one?

Don't know about it, Annie. But is that the one past Five Points, on the right, past Grand Slam, past Lowes? .....huge, beautiful building, kind of new? We'll have to look in to that place.

Delly, I think the one you are thinking about is Tokyo House (or something like that).....it has Japanese food and is very good. The one Annie is talking about is on Rehoboth Ave near the boardwalk...not far from Dolles. I haven't been there either but will go when my daughter visits from CA. She loves Thai food.

Hi Marabeth,
We moved from PA to Magnolia two years ago. What part of PA are you from and which development are you in? Maybe we are neighbors or were in the past. Anyway, welcome to the forum. Lots of info here and nice people too.

Oh yes and the buffet in Harrington is terrific. Make sure you're good and hungry when you get there.

Joe's Border Cafe, near Delaware Tech is Stanton. Great Mexican-Cajun combo. Lots of fun, cheap, and fast. And the food is good!

Delaware Today does a "Best of Delaware" overview that is on their website if you want links and more information.

Mmhm.. Best Restaurants, I would say that the best resaurants in Delaware tend to be in the Wilmington area (north) and the Lewes/Rehoboth Area (beaches, south). There are a few here and there in between, however, most of them are unfortunately, chain restaurants.

Do you know where you will be in particular?

In the Wilmington Area, there is alot to choose from. If you like Sushi, I would recommend Mikimotos. If you like a variety (pasta/sandwiches/some seafood) I would recommend Kid Shellens. There is an italian restaurant called Valle Cucina in Pike Creek that is very good. If you like Irish Pub/Restaurants, Kelly's Logan House and Catherine Rooneys is in Trolley Square (Wilmington).

If you are in the Dover area, if you like crabs, I would recommend Sambos Tavern. Dover Downs has Michelles, which is a more expensive, but very good restaurant. They also have the buffet. Roma is a great italian restaurant just off of Route One near the Dover Air Base. Francos is also a good italian restaurant that is right off of Route One near the Dover Air Force Base.

If you are in Milford, I would recommend Smith and Company.

If you are at the beach, you have alot to choose from! Nage (seafood and variety), Abstractions, The Cultured Pearl (sushi) and Espuma are all very good in Rehoboth.

For Seafood, The Big Fish Grill is very good and very popular. Striper Bites is also a good one to try. If you are in downtown Rehoboth, The Summerhouse as good food as well as Irish Eyes and Arena's is a sports bar with sandwiches and etc., still good. Nicola's is a favorite in Rehoboth - the Nicabolis are very popular. Dogfish Head is also in Rehoboth.

If you like Pizza, you definitely have to try Grottos! It is good stuff - you will find them everywhere, with the exception of Central Delaware.

Default Best restaurants in Delaware

Sambo's is open in Leipsic. Best ever crab cakes.
Cool Springs, 113, just south of Dover. Very, very good.
Thomas England House, South Smyrna. Excellent food. Nice setting.
The Iron Gate, south of Dover on Rt. 1. Food is great - atmosphere is not.
The Buttery, Lewes, fine dining at the beach. Great food and attention to guests. On busy Second St., parking often a problem.
The Blue Marlin Grill, just west of Ocean City, Md. on Rt. 50 in the Francis Scott Key Motel. Great food.

A must: The Big Fish, Rt. 1, Rehoboth. Good food and interesting atmosphere.
