Also, I have been to cool springs and didnt' care for it. Found it expensive with weird decor. most of the fish dishes were prepared with sauces. I know some people rave but my hub and I never went back.

Cool Springs, 113, just south of Dover. Very, very good.
Thomas England House, South Smyrna. Excellent food. Nice setting.
The Iron Gate, south of Dover on Rt. 1. Food is great - atmosphere is not.
The Buttery, Lewes, fine dining at the beach. Great food and attention to guests. On busy Second St., parking often a problem.
The Blue Marlin Grill, just west of Ocean City, Md. on Rt. 50 in the Francis Scott Key Motel. Great food.







A must: The Big Fish, Rt. 1, Rehoboth. Good food and interesting atmosphere.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this one. Sydney's in Rehoboth. More of a Cajun slant plus jazz band on weekends, not sure if it's through the week.

And....since I love seafood so much Old Mill in Delmar...Yum!!

Hubby liked Shuckers when he went to Delaware on his own enough to bring the family there when we all went to Delaware. He had the Lobster Ravioli and the crab soup. This trip, with the whole family, we had pasta dishes. Hubby had lump crab, I had shrimp and scallops and one of my daughters had shrimp and chicken. It was all very tasty. None of us was hungry when we left. The service is good and the food was delicious. The marinara sauce had a little kick to it, so be careful if you don't like spicey. I loved it! The salad that comes with your food is quite nice. Not like the typical lettuce and tomato salad we are used to where we live now. They have a children's menu for those with kids. They have fried and broiled seafood plates. We also ate at Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Dover. Kids eat free on Sunday. Dickey's is a chain but we liked what we ate.

Sambos? It's the only restaurant in Leipsic. Just drive up and down the 4-5 streets and you'll find it, along the water. In my opinion, there are crab cakes, and there are.....crab cakes. The only ones I eat are the ones home made, and they are not found in Kirby & Holloway. But, I'm picky about my crab cakes! ..... Sambo's, JP's on the Wharf, and those my caterer makes.

Elizamary, Sambo's isn't at all like Cool Springs, but you won't find a lot of variety, and it's a true crab shack. They offer other things, but you really want to go for the crabs.

Not cheap, by the way. A crab cake for lunch, on a bun, with nothing else is, I think, $11.50. The sides, coleslaw anyway, are small and unimpressive.

I've heard of it! In 1957-1958 we would drive-up to a "stall" and the waitress would skate out, plop a tray on the side of our car, take our burger order, and skate back inside. When she left, my husband (then boyfriend) would open the car door and make sure she didn't scratch it!

Our Holy Cross bunch used to eat breakfast there, every Sunday after Mass. They changed hands about 6-7 years ago, and we stopped going.

You really should go and try the crab cake. It is very very good for the price.

Love Sambos.......we always go when we have out-of-staters visit.....they love it!

Also love Cool Springs. It's across the street from our development so we pop over once in a while.

Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth is definitely good and very popular. Have to get there very early in the summer or plan on a long wait but I think that's true anywhere in Rehoboth in the summer.

My (adult) kids enjoy lunch at the Lobby House. We sit outside by the lake and order wraps and drinks and catch up. Nice. 33 West has delicious food but the decor leaves something to be desired for the prices charged.

Hi Kat,
Good choices! I had lunch at the Lobby House last week, and have always enjoyed it. Down in that bottom level, I think in 1959 or 1960, I met President Kennedy there (before he was elected). He was campaigning in Dover!
