Hi we are moving to Middletown too, when will you be moving, will you be buying or renting? So far everyone I've talked to are very nice, and I'm really looking forward to the move.

Well were are hoping to move by April/May depends on when our house closes. I dont know anyone from Delaware except my husband has a fairly new co-worker who lives in Bear. She recommended this particular development that we are purchasing. However she doesnt have any children and I would like to hear from any young families who are out there.

We just moved to central DE in Sept, so I am more familiar with Dover and south than the northern part of the state. We did, however, stay at the AmericInn in Bear 4 or 5 times in our trips here to search for a rental.
Bear seems to be a nice suburb of Wilmington/Newark/New Castle area, and easily commutable to those areas. With young children, I would suggest searching the dept of ed website for more info on the schools. I know your kids are young, but the oldest will be in K in the fall, so its not too soon to get a feel for what you have to look forward to. We have 4 kids, but only the younger 2 moved with us (they are 13 and 10). I did tons of reading from NC prior to our move, a lot of it on the dept of ed and that sort of link. I also joined a few message boards (including this one) and just polled everyone that would reply. Good luck, and welcome! Mary |

Laural, this is the only board I found with a good forum based on specific states. The other boards I belong to are for parents of special needs kids, since our 13 yr old has autism. Believe me, I burned up the keyboard posting and inquiring on those forums for months (actually, over a year) before we decided to roll the dice on DE.
Once I found City-Data, I quit searching for other "state specific" sites... this one has been pretty good in all the states we were exploring. Mary |

Ok Mary this is getting very spooky with having things in common,
my son is grown but I've been doing reseach because I suspect he has spectrum disorder, as you probably already know which is a high functional level of autism. |
