I'm sure this is but I would suggest if you are interested to come for a visit if at all possible.

Some other really good restaurants in Milford are Smith & Co. and the Georgia House. The Executive Club also just opened up, but I haven't been by yet.
I've never seen anyone kayak the Mispillion.
You might want to research Hearthstone Manor for new construction. They're cute bungalows in the high 200s.

Visited Milford and surrounding area last week and encountered very friendly and helpful people. Housing was higher than expected for 1700 sq. ft. What is happening with Central Parke at Milford? Visited Rehoboth; very nice, but costly housing. Stayed at AmericInn at Milford; great place and great people. Thanks Delaware.

Glad you enjoyed yourself! Central Parke is due to break ground this year. Here's their web site: Central Parke at Milford, Active Adult living coming soon!
If I was in the market for an over 55 community, this definitely would be it. It's only 20 minutes from Lewes, and the amenites, location, and access to water are just what I would be looking for. Never thought I'd like one of these! Milford is a nice area, I think. By the way, I don't sell real estate or have any connection with this development.

I would appreciate any information about experiences with Hearthstone Manor in Milford. We did visit it recently. The sales person was very helpful. Are there any unusual restrictions at Hearthstone? We were particularly interested in a single family home.

I believe everything is condo ownership, but I could be wrong. I only know of a few locals living there, and others are from elsewhere. The people I know absolutely love it there. Did you look in to Central Parke in Milford? It's just getting started, and is a 55+ community. Don't know if you're interested in that, though. I'm sure your Hearthstone Manor salesperson told you most everything, but if you don't have their web site, here it is. I think I'd specifically ask if those single family homes are held in condo ownership. Condos are not necessarily high-rise units. They can be single family detached, like in The Plantations in Lewes. Hearthstone Manor in Milford, Delaware -- Country Life Homes

Are metal detectors allowed on Delaware beaches? Are there restrictions on using them? Where are Argo Farms homes located?

Yes, metal detectors are allowed on many beaches, particularly the northern beaches, like Fowlers, Primehook, Slaughters, South Bowers, etc. I see them in Rehoboth Beach, Dewey, and Bethany Beaches, but don't know if there are restrictions as to hours they may be used. I do know, there are lots of rental places in the beach areas advertising those. Here's the site for Rehoboth Beach. Maybe you'll find something about that.
Beach-Fun.com - THE OFFICIAL GUIDE FOR REHOBOTH AND DEWEY BEACHES THE OFFICIAL GUIDE FOR REHOBOTH AND DEWEY BEACHES
About Argo Farms, go south on Route 1 (Coastal Highway) pass Milford, then East on Slaughter Beach Road, through Argos Corner, go 1/4 mile, and Argo Farms is on the left. It's about 1/2 mile or more off of Coastal Highway.

Hello!
Milford is a good area to consider. What is nice about Delaware is that 20 miles is 20 minutes, so if you travel to a nearby town, it is not too far of a drive. Smith and Company is a good restaurant in Milford. I really like the atmosphere.
Have you been to Milford? Is there a particular reason why you chose Milford specifically? I would expand your options over to Magnolia, Frederica, Felton, Camden areas which are still in driving distance to the beach, yet close to Dover. What is nice about Felton and Frederica is that they are both within ten minutes of both Milford and Dover. Therefore, you get the benefits of being next to both towns (grocery stores, restaurants, jobs, etc.)
Beach traffic can get pretty bad at times, however, it usually starts around Milton. What you'll need is a local to show/tell you the backroads to bypass all of the out of staters sitting in traffic .
If you like to bike and kayak, you will like the fact that Killens State Pond is only minutes away in Felton Killens Pond State Park -- Delaware State Parks. It is nice to have it nearby for biking and kayaking purposes.
There is also a bike trail that goes through the state that loops around Central Delaware that you should look into. AND kayaking the St. Jones River is a popular thing to do, it takes you through Central Delaware as well.
Bombay Hook is in Smyrna (just north of Dover) it is a Wildlife/State Park that is gorgeous, very serene and wonderful to bike through - especially at dawn or dusk (it is for migratory birds and their flight makes the view spectacular).
Cape Henlopen is a State Park that has kayaking and bike trails as well. There is also a popular bike trail that goes through Scenic Lewes. If you go north, near wilmington, there are parks such as Brandywine State Park.
As far as restaurants, you will find that the best and more variety of restaurants are in the Wilmington area and the beaches area. There are alot of chain restaurants in Central Delaware. There are a few good restaurants here and there in between, for instance, Dover Downs slots as well as the Harrington Slots have good buffets. The restaurant in Dover Downs, Michelles is nice, more upscale/expensive, but a nice night out if you want one. There are a few seafood restaurants that are off the beaten path, such as JPs on the Wharf in Bowers Beach (b/n Milford and Dover) and Sambos in Leipsic (Near Smyrna). I have heard good things about the Village Inn. Roma is a nice italian restaurant in Dover, There is a Texas Roadhouse in Camden, Francos and Giacomos are other good Pizza/Subs/Italian Food restaurants. If you are in Dover and you like crab soup, I would recommend The Lobby House's Crab Bisque. If not, they have a nice atmosphere and good food. I like having Hibachi in Dover nearby.
When you reach the beach, there are ALOT of good restaurants to choose from. Espuma, The Cultured Pearl, Nicolas, Arenas, The SummerHouse. I would recommend eating at The Big Fish Grill and/or Nage.
It is nice to take a few minutes drive and go out to dinner at the beach if needed.
