All,

I am a long time lurker in these Delaware forums as I have desperately been trying to get a transfer from my current office (Manhattan) to Wilimington to relocate my family. I have spent hours reading the information provided by the community on these forums and just wanted to register to make it known how great you guys and gals are. Hopefully, my transfer will be coming to fruition within the next eight months or so which would allow me to start to help others out as much as this collective community has helped me. I look forward to one day hopefully soon moving to Delaware with my family and being a part of both this virtual community and the actual Delaware community.

Just seems like yesterday we were in your shoes and the assistance from this board was just outstanding. Many of the same people are still helping others. If you have any more questions we are here to help. As a former NY'er (LI) myself you will be astounded by the "little things" you can do here. For example, a neighbor told me to call the ER a few weeks ago to see how busy they were before deciding to go there or to an urgent care facility after taking a fall. Just imagine my surprise when the response was we are doing the best we can but are very busy.

We were just visiting through and were really impressed with the Wilmington area. For our purposes, we want to be close to Philly. I think the area was actually North Wilmington but it definitely seems to have a lot to offer.
If the job does come through for Wilmington, sounds like a very nice option. (That or Newark which was also quite nice and has the university).

We've had some very nice people move to our state, and as they'e learned their way around, they are now awesome contributors to this forum. Thanks to them!

Not to be a downer, but we've had a few who've moved here, from "elsewhere", who've never adapted to "friendly" Delaware. Not their fault. They just don't know how to cope with in-your-face friendliness and honesty. Luckily, they are few in number.

NYJoe....and his wife, are great friends of ours! Who would have thought they moved from "up there" ???? I think it must be a mistake! They act, talk, and think like Delawareans!

So true, rdlr. Same deal over my way which (as you know) is heavily populated with about 95 percent of the people from places west and north of here. I'd say most of my neighbors are really great people, and they are all from places other than Delaware. However, we are so fortunate to have the ONE annoying neighbor in here living right next door to us. He wants to change everything and complain about everything. He also has the manners and social skills of a caveman.

OMAGosh! Funny! Yeah, I actually met one like that. Wasn't so much manners or social skills...but a real jerk type know-it-all wanting to change everything.

Just your luck, huh?

I, being a native Long Islander have one complaint about DE. It can't be "fixed" either. When I would head down to the beach on LI. I would walk straight down to the water and plop my chair and umbrella down looking at the cool refreshing water, as the day progressed I would have to turn the foot of the chair clockwise to remain in the sun. Here, everything is off. I put my chair down and I can't look at the water, I look at the beach and "have to turn my head" to look at the cooling water. Imagine that. You natives should really work on this problem for me!!! I know complain, complain, complain.
