There has been a bee hive of activity across from Jungle Jim in Rehoboth at the entrance to Rehoboth Avenue. The entire grass lands between County Bank / Holiday Inn to Jungle Jim have been leveled and graded and drainage has been trenched.

The Destination station Where? When? is due to be started this fall so it is quite possible that is the only project actually on the map as we speak. There have been rumors of a Wawa, Olive Garden, Bad Bath and Beyond, a hotel and a Harris Teeter but thus far they have no teeth.

Also, the bankruptcy of the A & P (Super Fresh) may leave that large space further up on Route 1 vacant and also Giant and Food Lion are now also owned by the same company. The clerks at Superfresh are on pins and needles and have been told nothing other than last week the racks with the gift cards for a variety of stores were removed.

Stay tuned......

A BBB and a Teeter would be wonderful, a Wegmans would even be better. The area needs something other than a Wawa or Olive Garden, although I love their salads.

Given all the influx of newcomers coming into the area, I hope someone is looking at what stores are needed to round out the needs of the people.

According to the news release, the Superfresh in Rehoboth is being sold to Acme. It is not one of the 25 A&P controlled stores that are closing.

Whoopee ! The area needs one. I hope it's going to be a large one and not a scaled back one.

Here is a link to the story showing disposition of A&P and Super Fresh stores. Don't know why Acme would buy it to turn it into a Bed Bath & Beyond, but I suppose anything is possible.

EDD,

The way I read the post was that employees of BB&B in Salisbury MD say there is a BB& B going into the site where the WAWA is being built - not the Superfresh located in Pelican Square.

Thanks for the clarification, Mary. I thought folks were speculating what was going to replace the current Superfresh on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth.

You are not the first person that has stated that fellow employees in other stores in MD. said that. BUT. We also heard that BBB was going to be one of the anchor stores if the new mall at Cove Neck was approved.
