I grew up in DE, I think the people are becoming more and more miserable....I think you have been in the right place at the right time.

I sure do hope the same thing is happening in Michigan, too. We could use some good news to revive our dead housing market. We need to sell our house soon.

Back to Original Topic: Yes, I have found Delawarians very friendly, also new move-ins are friendly. It all boils down to something I heard a long time ago. You can accomplish almost anything with a smile and a great attitude. People respond to that no matter what part of the country somebody is from.

Dry staples are about the same, but try buying perishables - dairy, fruits and vegetables, and meats... at NH prices and you will be surprized by the relative jump in price. Lettuce in NH $0.99, lettuce in Rehoboth Beach $1.99. NH milk/gallon: $3.59, DE milk/gallon: $4.25

Susan you should try shopping around. I live near Rehoboth and pay way less than what you are quoting.

As a former "Dupont Brat" we spent the obligatory couple of years in Delaware, Newark to be precise. Loved it!! Was far and away the friendliest place we ever lived in. Much better than Kentucky, California, Tennessee, Texas, central Virginia, or Southern Virginia. North Carolina is also a friendly place to put down roots, outdoor activities abound, year round.

I was born and raised in Philly. I had the same feeling when I moved here. The people are much more friendly and welcoming. I like to travel and it's a great take off point with the Philadelphia Airport so close, even a quick day trip to the mountains or the shore is doable. I dig Delaware.

Although I have been living in Delaware only for about a month now, I find it very welcoming! So far I met very nice, friendly people, and for some odd reason it feels like home already

My wife and I went to Ocean City MD. Spent close to a week on the beach and it rained every day and was cold, so we mostly drove around and explored the area. The people in ocean city were rude and nasty looking. My guess was the crowd was mostly folks from Philly and Jersey. After the first day we headed north into Delaware and found the food, traffic and people in general much nicer. I got a great vibe from the state and would love to go back. It was night and day between OC and the Delaware strip.
