I'm wondering which neighborhoods are best in Wilmington near downtown. We are late 30s, no kids, enjoy dining out, shops, occassional happy hours. Both professional but very laid back. We like inner city neighborhoods, looking for something safe and clean but not ultra expensive or snobby.

I remember the area around the Delaware Ave/ Pennsylvania Ave intersection(exit 7 on I 95) seemed kind of nice and i recall going to a few nice bars over there. That was back in '87, don't know how it is now

I think that is Trolley Square / Rockford Park area. Beautiful homes and great nightlife. Close to everything- I-95, great restaurants, nightclubs, rt 202 and downtown Wilmington.
