Default Brookside

My husband and I are thinking about relocating to Delaware. We know nothing about the state. We are looking in New Castle County to buy a house. I've noticed a couple in Brookside. What is Brookside like? Is it good for children? Any help would be great.

Default Brookside

If you are looking for drugs, than I would say that would be the place for you. Since, I am sure you are not, I would stay away from Brookside. Not a good area. It has been a few years since I have been there, but I am sure it has not changed that much in that short time period.

Suggestion would be around Prices Corner area, Stanton, Newport. Pike Creek or Hockessin if you can afford it.

Good luck!

Default ...

Anyone else have any comments? I noticed that it's one of the top 100 places to live in Money Mag.

I've lived in Newark for over 30 years and Brookside has always been considered one of the least desirable neighboroods.

There are some nice neighborhoods in Newark - most are in West Newark, in my opinion. But I would personally choose the Pike Creek area or Hockessin over Newark.

Brookside is for 1st time buyers who don't mind the noise, domestic violence, and depreciating properties. Most people who have a choice would not choose Brookside.

There are some nice properties in Brookside, don't get me wrong. But the majority of them are not kept up. Alot of rentals in this area.

If you are looking for a great starter home (200-250,000) you may want to check out Stanton (19804) Eastburn Acres, Meadowood, and Delpark Manor...all not too far from Newark.
