Fort Miles sets schedule of Saturday events beginning April 9 - CapeGazette.com - Covering Delaware's Cape Region - Inland Bays, Atlantic Ocean, Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Milton, Dewey Beach, USA

Fort Miles in Cape Henlopen State Park has announced their tour schedule. There will be limited openings so advance registration is necessary. The lantern tour sounds interesting.

I participated in an Elderhostel in Rehoboth many years ago (before it was renamed Road Scholar). One of the best field trips was to Fort Miles. Our tour guide was Gary Wray, a major history buff in the area. (I think he also served on the Cape Henlopen School Board. And/or maybe was the principal for a while?)

Anyway, it was a FASCINATING tour! I learned SO much. I never really understood the beach towers' function, but it was explained so well. It was just a wonderful slice of history that hardly anyone is exposed to.

I would strongly recommend these tours to anyone who can possibly get there. Well worth the cost and the time.
