Hi Cindy,
We are from PA and live in Jonathan's Landing. Would love to meet you and your hubby. Which development are you in? Ours has all ages. I have met several couples from this forum. Send me a PM and we'll meet somewhere for dinner.

Cindy,
We've lived in Dover for a long time, and we're planning to move, in large part to be near family, in a year or two, but I must say that during the months I've read this forum, I've learned that there's a really good group here in the area. I hope to be able to join them for a lunch in the next month or two. (Haven't persuaded husband yet though!)
Don't mind about your ages! We're closer to senior status than you are!

Hi Cindy,
We too are new to DE (just moved here Sept 07). We're not in Magnolia, but across Rt 13 in the Camden-Wyoming area. While you and your hubby ARE a few years older than we are (47 & 43), I think you will find folks of all ages all around you.
As Annie mentioned, we do have an eclectic (sp?) lunch bunch... I'm sure the others will agree that you are quite welcome to join us next time!

Hi, Cindy:
We are hoping to move to Delaware within the next year - probably around the Magnolia area. We are also from NJ & we're a little older than you -55 & 56. My husband does not want to live in senior community since he wants at least a 1/2 acre & I don't know if any senior communities have larger lots. I was afraid I would be lonely if we moved to a regular community but I have been encouraged by all the friendly helpful people on this forum.Hopefully, you'll be happy in De. Hope to meet you someday.

Chrisann: My husband and I are also from NJ and considering a move to DE. We're older than you (64 and 68), but we're also thinking that we don't want to move into a senior community since my husband's hobby is woodworking and he needs a large space for his workshop. We're also thinking we want a little more land around us too. We haven't started looking yet. We're also considering PA.

Marge:
We also looked in Pa but the taxes seem better in De.
Good Luck to you!

Junior and Senior members!
First, I wanted to say what a nice bunch of friendly people on this board!
I've been visiting this board for a while now and you kind of feel like you know the people who post regularly. You can almost picture them in your mind....
So I suppose subliminally I was picturing the "Senior" members as being old. I've been picturing MaryCH as an old grandmotherly type. Sorry!!!
Too funny! Maybe we'll have to start posting our stats so I can have a more accurate picture.
My apologies to all the "Senior" members.

Yep.. we too are in our mid 50's / early 60's respectfully. We initally were looking for +55 in PA but $7k in taxes really discouraged us so we started looking in DE.
Several years ago, when we first started looking here, + 55s were just in the beginning stages and not very plentiful like they are now. So we started looking into new construction in single family developments. That is what brought us to our current home. We have a 3000sq' home on 1/3 acre with open space. All the lots are the same size but the homes vary. Our total payments here are $300 +/- less than our townhome in PA. The only thing I do miss is the pool and clubhouse we had in our PA community. I will say that I am so pleased with this forum as we have met some fine folks here and the numbers are growing. Maybe +55 will be in our future but right now were are tickled pink where we are right now here in Magnolia.

Angie,
I will tell you, having met a lot of the regular, Kent County based folks, that (despite their ages), there is not a senior one in the bunch! I too envisioned something different prior to moving to DE and meeting these fine folks... and would have failed that test miserably!
So I come across as an older, grandmotherly sort, do I? Man, that hurts! Especially with a birthday coming up in March... but I will honestly say I will be 48 then. Truly though, with 2 older kids (as well as the 2 that moved to DE with us), I have been mistaken for my younger 2 kids' granny before. Here and in NC where we moved from.
So I do take it as a grain of salt... and count my blessings every morning I wake up and can put both feet on the floor. I do curse the bifocals, and the creaky knees and stiff hip (darned cold!), but I try to be ageless in my efforts as a mom, wife, daughter, etc. But I WAS pleasantly surprised that I can get a membership at the Modern Maturity Center at 50! So in a few years, SOMEONE will think I am finally... MODERN, AND MATURE! Woohoo!
