I live in Masseys Landing. The only reason I live in DE is because I can have my boat parked in the back yard. Lot rents are very reasonable here, unlike Pot-nets and Mariners Cove. I think White House Beach is up there as well, but your don't hear the complaints like you do from the other two. Must be better management.

Hi,
I moved to Bay City in Long Neck in January of 2007 with my boyfriend from Central New Jersey. I was commuting to NYC for grad school and my job every day and it was just too much. We chose Long Neck because of the price and because my boyfriend's family moved down here as well. We bought a mobile home (I don't care so much about it being "mobile") and between land lease and mortgage its under 700 a month. You can't even rent a nice studio for that in NYC or NJ! Being in my mid twenties and from NJ I was used to big indoor shopping malls (I went to college 2 miles down the road from the 2nd largest mall in the country) and to come to long neck it was an adjustment. I love having three Supermarkets. Harris Teeter's prices are a bit higher but they give out tons of free samples. They'll even give you a sample of the deli items that are behind the glass like fresh mozzarella. They also have a lot of buy one get one free items, or you could get one at half price. If I had to choose between the three supermarkets I would choose Harris Teeter because they have great sales and their deli and bakery are superb. I saw a sign the other day that a Dunkin Donuts is coming to that shopping center near Giant.

I've also heard that a Dollar Tree is possibly opening and maybe another Bar. I'm young and there are not that many young couples down here but the scene is great for the retired or young at heart. I have to say I do more things with people who are 50+ (I'm 24) but I actually like it that way. The American Legion in Oak Orchard is very popular and a good place to go for a night out. A lot of the communities have activities planned and have a lot of get togethers.

Overall I have found that the people are more relaxed and into the simpler things in life. As for the friendliness, I personally have met some of the nicest and kindest people you will ever meet. That being said I have also met some people who don't do a thing and sit home all day and drink alcohol for a living, but those people are in the few.

Moving here was great! I would recommend it to anyone who wants a slower pace as it is not the mecca for shopping, although it is getting better.

I'm a Millsboro native *gasp* I know!! There aren't that many of us!! I live in Millsboro proper, not the Oak Orchard/Long Neck area...thankfully. Millsboro proper is hoping that area gets their own zip code as it's growing by leaps and bounds.

Not dsdumpling here but my take on it being 'scary' is that a lot of people are not thrilled w/ FL and are wanting to leave (ie it's overcrowded etc) - if people start flocking to DE (which it seems is happening), the same thing could happen there, it'll get built up, traffic will get more congested, resources will be depleted etc (it's happening already)- am looking at the 'big picture' - so when I hear someone referring to as DE the 'new FL', oftentimes it's not in a flattering/complimentary way. I'm sure there are positive ways to compare the 2 states too (good weather etc) but there's also a lot of negatives and that's my take on it being 'scary'.

It is family owned and operated. They are very nice people to deal with. I have nothing but good to say about them. They aren't trying to get rich. They would rather keep the rents reasonable and keep long term residents. Totally different business ethic than Potnets.

Our place just went on the market. We hate to sell, but we have to move for business reasons. We're going the for sale by owner route for a month or two. We've had quite a bit of interest.
