Hi all, I'm new to this forum and thank you in advance for your help.

I'm considering a position at a company in Milton, DE and am hoping someone here can provide some insight on the area and people. As a 26-year-old fun-loving single woman, is Milton going to be a place where I can meet others my age and make friends/form relationships? Where do "young people" in the area live? Are there apartment complexes or are homes rented out, and what is the more popular option?

I'm relocating from California and am originally from Upstate NY so I have lived in big and mid-size cities. With Milton's population of around 2,000, I have concerns it will not be the best fit for me due to the very small size.

Thank you for your comments!

Look in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, or Dewey Beach for a place to live. There's not much in Milton.

I find lower Delaware to have to beautiful landscapes, especially around the beach, but it is a bit isolated from the rest of the state.

Milton might be a tough for someone of your demographic, as lower Delaware is mainly families, older adults and retirees. The most young professional / cosmopolitan demographics tend to be in the upper part of the state (Newark and Wilmington).

Outside of beach season, Lower Delaware might seem isolated to a mid-20s single transplant. But if you get lonely down there on the weekend, my wife and I can take you out in Trolley Square, Wilmington. We are always up to meeting new friends.

I am retired and live in Rehoboth. Both DH and I would say that we would not want to live in Milton at your age. Wilmington area as above poster stated would be better, if yo are looking for singles.

Milton is much more affordable than the actual beach towns and little traffic problems. The trip to the more active areas is not bad and there is plenty to do off season once you learn your way around.

Look closely at Wilmington if you consider moving there. It is a small city with big city problems:

Murder Town USA (aka Wilmington, Delaware)

There are things to do there, however.

There are still many nice areas in the Wilmington area. Just stay out of the ghettos and you should be fine.
