Default Are there many young, active families with kids in Millsboro???

Hi! My husband, 7 month old son and I will be relocating to Millsboro in May for a job transfer. After reading a few of the posts, I'm scared that it's primarily 55+. Are there activities for young families? We're looking in Long Neck Shores neighborhood as well as Stonewater Creek. Does anyone know anything about these places? Any help would be appreciated!!!
Thanks-

Cat,
I just bought in LNS and we were told that there are very few children in Phase I. Spoke to a resident and she told us that she only sees 5 kids get off the bus, 2 of them are in HS.

Now, that doesn't mean there aren't other 7 month old kids but just FYI. The sales reps can't give you demographic details. You need to speak to the residents to find out for sure.

I'm sure there are plenty of families in Millsboro--just not maybe in LNS.

Default You just found some!

My wife and I were worried about the same thing. We have a 5 and a 3 year old and we're in our late thirties. We are moving to be closer to my parents. The more we go down to visit and look at communities, the more we are finding people just like us, looking for the same thing. There are lots of great schools and lots of childcare, so I wouldn't worry about finding parents...hey, you just found one!

We're moving down in July to Milford which is about 45 minutes north of Millsboro. My parents live in Ocean View which is very close to Millsboro. We should keep in touch.

SJKERN, what draws you to Milford? My wife and I are looking at Milford as a possible place to retire someday and plan to visit it soon to see if it is all that we hope it is.

What drew us to Milford is the space, the low prices for housing, and that it's a little bit away from the beach traffic. Of course the taxes are great too, but that's pretty much anywhere in DE.

My parents retired in Bethany Beach, DE which is about 40 minutes south of Milford and they love it. They bought when it was really cheap, though. Now it's hard to afford homes in that area...at least for us.

The home we are moving into is in a development called Argo Farms. It's a mile from Slaughter Beach (this is bay water) which suits us because our kids are very young and fear nothing...especially huge beach waves. The house is on 3/4 acre which we like, but isn't always something that retirees are looking for.

Have you looked into Milton? We loved that city, but the homes there were on too little land for us. One development I'd recommend in Milton is Summerwalk at Cannery Village. The homes are beautiful and the development is great, but again, there wasn't enough space for us which is why we decided to go to Milford. Jake Booth is the real estate agent for the Ryan Homes section of Cannery Village. He's a great help and offers a lot of sound advice.

Depending on what you're looking for, either of these areas might be perfect for you. My wife and I had been looking around for a long time, so if you want to tell me a little more about what you're looking for, I'd be happy to help out.

Steve
