Default Moving to Delaware From Long Island

My family and I (my wife, daughters ages 9 & 11, & 2 BIG dogs!) are planning to move to Delaware from Long Island NY. We are focusing on the Caesar-Rodney or Milford School district areas. Can anyone give me information about which area may be nicer? The schools? Friendliness of the people in the area? Any information would be helpful. WE are planning on coming down in April to go house hunting. Thank you!

my hub and i just bought in middletown with our 3 girls (sans the dog) - Appoquinimik school district is top ranked which is why we choose it. it's a very up/coming area but still very rural with a small town feel. . we love it. good luck!

We are in Caesar Rodney school district. Our town is Magnolia and there are currently two resales on our street. One, just like ours, just went on the market yesterday. We LOVE our home. Plenty of appointments in the new listing, All you'll have to do is move in and hang your hat! Our builder is also offering several floorplans ,if you are not in any hurry. Ask your realtor to show you the homes in Jonathan's Landing or just follow the signs. We love New Yorkers.

Are there many families with school age children there? How are the schools?

Our particular neighborhood has all ages. I would say that half of the familys have school age children. Caesar Rodney is considered one of the best in Kent County.

Delware is a popular retiree state however, in the area of Middletown, with all of the new construction it is drawing in more families. We have 3 school aged (2 middle and 1 elementary). The shcools in the Appoquinimik district are top ranked. You can 'choice' your children into a school outside of your zone but within the district if you like one over the other. There is also the MOT charter school that has an excellent reputation. Good Luck - hope to see you around town!
