Coming from NJ and looking at Delaware I find this "amusing" I am thrilled to find houses for $400 or less that we would want. We are looking at houses that are almost, if not double the size of our home in NJ and the prices are equal or less than what we will get for our home, not to mention the taxes are 70% less even with all the fees and other things we would have to pay for that are included in my taxes it still more than 1/2 the cost.

Of course we would have to worry about cost of selling it if we did ever decide to leave Delaware so I completely understand just makes me smile.

we're finding stuff for like $220k We have no kids, I did searches in Newark, and Bear. Maybe I'm not looking in the best neighborhoods but houses look very nice, well maintained, etc etc. Taxes are less than half of what I pay in CT, and geeze probably 15% of what I would pay on Long Island. As of right now I have two problems, if not I would be in DE tomorrow morning.

1) selling my current home, no way can we swing 2 mortgages, plus need the sale for down payment on new home
2) finding a job there

Look in Harmony Woods subdivision in the Newark area. We paid about that for our house, taxes are between $1300-1400 a year... I have no complaints!

one thing I don't like...

People have seemed to forget about "the wave" when you let them infront of you in traffic.

Old people asking an arm and a leg for homes that smell like mothballs and need to be gutted and renovated from the ground up.
