I would rather live in Delaware any day before going back to Phoenix. I hate New Mexico and Texas, one visit was enough for me. Although I'd prefer living further north closer to PA than in southern DE. I grew up out west and after 20 yrs finally got to see the east coast in and around Philadelphia including Delaware. I fell in love with it and can't get enough of the area. At least DE is a short drive to the big city. Some places out west are REALLY in the boondocks and takes hours of driving just to even get to the next small town.

Well, you said nice things about my kid! What can I say?
You definitely should go in to some profession where you work with people more. How about that last job? That was people oriented. Of course, where you are now is, also. I just think you have more to offer!

Well, I'm mission minded. I think God has big plans for me. S. Africa's AIDS orphans have held a soft spot for me for quite a while now...years in fact. My husband says he doesn't want me to go...I was shocked!! He said if I go, I'll be bringing as many kids home as I can. I don't think I'll always work in a hardware store, maybe it's something right now that I can help someone along the way. We have a lot of widows that come in that I try to help, I'm thinking about venturing even further with that.

"Boondocks" caught my eye!
East of Smyrna, about 3 miles, The Boondocks! Crabs, shrimp, buckets of hodge podge, and 'other'........
So glad you love it here in Delaware!

We are looking forward to a great life in a slower atmosphere and not only expect cultural changes but welcome them with open arms. We want our children to grow up with a better quality of life, without all the distractions. I hope you all will show me, through your posts, that we aren't making a mistake.

You will not have a problem with DE natives. Most of them are nice and if you come across on that isn't, just ignore them.

Before we moved, I wasn't a 10% sure we were doing the right thing. Didn't take long and we realized we did the right thing. Just felt right and it will for you too.
Jitters are normal and you will be fine

Default I love this post!

I am a REALTOR in Delaware, and I was wondering if I could use what you said in a testimonial about our area... Would that be okay?

Your post is quoted below..

1. I have all my family up and down the east coast
2. Low property taxes, compared to PA, NY, NJ which are insane
3. No sales tax
4. We lived in a city the same size as Middletown, according to Sperlings Best Places to live there are 10,272 people as of 2007. Where I lived in Mission Viejo, there are over 90,000.
5. Traffic is the worse in the country where I lived
6. People...most are superficial, they are way to concerned about their looks, what they drive, and where they live. In Delaware they are real people.
7. For me the weather was to hot.
8. People were to busy for each other in Calif, people actually strike up conversations here.
9. I love the open space and farm land.
10. You don't know your neighbors in CA.
11. The weather seems to be milder than PA and NY, not as much snow.
12. Here is one of the main reasons, it is near everything, you can easily get to NY, NJ, MD, PA etc. Philly airport is near by you can fly out to anywhere.
We don't plan to sit in Middletown we plan to go out an explore the east coast and DE is our homebase. But we do plan on making some good friends that will keep us in town more often than not.
