Relocating to Delaware due to husband's job transfer
I grew up in Brooklyn and we moved to Phoenix back in 1989 and stayed there for 9 years. It was the worst place on earth!!! 6 months a year of triple digit temperatures, no seasons, no trees or greenery, track homes that all look alike, nasty people(mainly from different areas of the country). We now live in a suberb of Richmond,VA. Although I feel blessed to be back on the east coast, I am ready to leave the South (lack of tolerence for New Yorkers (especially if you have a strong accent).
I hope the people in Delaware are more accepting. And I am looking forward to being closer to NYC.

Most of us locals aren't that tolerant with a few exceptions. I can tell a transplant just by how they talk. Y'all need to tone down that New Yark accent

When a person is not tolerant of another, that is just a darn shame isn't it.
I have a philly accent and I have to say truthfully, people have been very nice to us since we have lived here. I definately have a stange way of talking so I'm told.
I think part of it has to do with my hearing loss.

Any form of intolerance is a shame. I've felt it a lot in reverse. I work in a hardware store and our "weekend" customers look down on us locals. Now grant it, some folks open their mouths and show their ignorance but please don't assume. It's probably the same everywhere. I say it's usun's against themun's.

Funny, I get confused for a Canadian all the time (from Milwaukee). My wife gets alot of questions at work about where she's from also. We must really stand out.

That's funny you mention it. I used to work with a young lady from Wisconsin. It was so cute how she pronounced the state.
We must sound like a bunch of yocals to y'all.

Laural, I lived in the outer Richmond, pretty close to Lands End. San Francisco is the favorite city of so many!
ELizamary, I'm reading so fast! I can't make lunch today, but I'd love to keep in touch so that I can join the bunch one of these times.

Now this isn't directed to anyone that lives here.
Vacationers or is it vacationors...oh nevermind (I have ADHD...oh look, a rabbit) ok, let me start again...heeeheee. Folks on vacation talk really, really loud. If you go to a beach town (which I don't anymore, I tend to go to state parks) they sit very close and talk loud enough for the lifeguard to hear.
What's up with that?
