Lewes?
Hello all,
I am considering a move to the Lewes, Magnolia or Camden area of Delaware and any information would be greatly appreciated. I have 3 children age 12, 9 and 7 that LOVE being outdoors. Fishing is one of their most favorite weekend activities so an area that has access to fishing would be desirable.
All opinions are welcome as we need to hear everything good, bad and in between to make an informed decission.
THanks!

I'm moving to Delaware. The first thing I did was check out the school Districts to make sure my children get a good education. Then I looked at what homes were in my price range. Then I started researching the homes themself for what I was looking for and property sizes. There are 3 counties in Delaware: Sussex, Kent and New Castle. Although there is school choice, there are expectation of major school budget cuts. My guess is this will make using school choice more difficult, if not impossible. Good luck.

Lewes (pronounced just like Louis, not Lews) is right on Delaware Bay. Camden has a nice fishing hole, Derby Pond. The adjoining town, Wyoming has a nice pond, Wyoming Pond. Camden/Wyoming are only seperated by the middle of a street. I lived in Camden 12 years, right down from DSP Troop 3. Magnolia is a nice small town, not far from Barkers Landing which I believe is brackish water. So in any three of the towns you mentioned there is good fishing. Some head boats go out of Lewes too.

dsdumpling.......Don't forget North and South Bowers! .....fishing party boats, on bay fishing, and off bridge fishing....not to mention North Bowers' JP's on the Wharf for food and 'refreshments'. Your local knowledge amazes me dumpling! We're just a few blocks from Wyoming Pond, by the way. My husband hates fishing, but as a kid, I went wtih my father everywhere to all the local ponds, lakes, fishing areas. The only kind of fishing I didn't like, was surf fishing......darn swimmers used to keep getting in the way Whenever I get time, I'm buying myself another fishing pole and heading to Derby or Wyoming Pond, by myself! Come to think of it, I think I'll tell my husband that's what I want for Christmas! .....pole, tackle box, hooks, line, sinkers and the works! He'll gladly buy them for me, and send me on my way!

Well...funny story and if you have some goggles you might not need a new fishing pole.
When I was pregnant with my oldest...24 years ago, my hubby and I had gone fishing at Wyoming Pond on the mill side. He ticked me off about something and I stomped away...yeah, was prone to tantrums Anyway...I pitched that fishing pole in the pond side and it felt so good. Then when it dawned on me what I had actually done, the pole my Daddy gave me had sunk to the bottom. I'm so dumb!!
Do you remember that baby that was found in Derby Pond? My husband and I got donations for her burial.
Is the Heartbreak Hotel still open? If you walked on the floors you'd think you were drunk, even without the first drink. Heeheee....

Oh yeah! I remember that awful thing regarding the baby. That was so tragic! Good job, on your part......great work!
No, the Heartbreak Hotel has been leveled. We used to like to go there, sit on stools up to the bar, and hold on to the bar to keep from sliding off the crooked stool! That was really a funny place, wasn't it?
