I don't have a dog (I have a kitty), but I do like them.
This is FYI for those who enjoy dog tv shows and get cable or satellite tv. On my system, there is a program at 9 AM called "The Dog or Me" or something like that. The premise of the show is that somebody has a dog who is misbehaving so badly, that one of the dog's owners is saying basically, I'm outta here if you decide to keep the dog. This trainer from England, Victoria-something, is amazing! If you are into dogs, I think you'd like the show. |

Oh gosh, I have to find that show on Comcast! Sounds like one to watch at least once... as long as it doesn't conflict with favorite morning show... Rachael Ray! Hubby thinks she's "cute", so I'm taking lessons on cookin' her stuff, while being perky, etc. in the kitchen! For those who have met me, is it working????

Um, Mary, when can you have us over for dinner, and we'll let you know? ![]() Back to dog topic---try taping the show if you can't watch it when it's on. It's worth it, especially if you are going to be fostering dogs. Some of them might need a few lessons in good manners. |

Sanddollar, we'll have you over for dinner as soon as we're in the new house, and you folks are back in DE! How's that?
Will try to tape the show.. but probably still not for a few weeks. Gonna get very hectic around here, even with school out for the kids. And you are SO right... foster dogs probably will need some lessons in manners, among other things! Are we REALLY ready for that??? Mary |

Just a little fyi to people moving here, my pointer has been on frontline and he's white so its easy to find ticks on him. The other day he came up lame in one front ankle, day two he wouldnt walk on it. I made a vet appointment next day and that night he was sore in the other ankle. This gave me a clue. the first ankle I thought he might have sprained (pointers run with no care for themselves) but upon testing he was strong positive for lyme. He's on 30 days antibiotic and by day three his ankle is fine.
Just heads up on ticks pets and clue on joint pain possibly. My lab tested positive from 10 weeks old...he's had one eposide in 6 years that needed antibiotics after he was lathargic and wouldnt eat for two goin on three days. |

Interesting. One of mine recently tested positive for Lyme's too (we're not in DE but ticks seem to be prevalent in the surrounding states). We don't give the vaccine b/c it seems ineffective but I'm rethinking that as I really dont want to go thru this again (fortunately she's low-positive, was getting bloodwork for something else) - she's acting fine (and had been all along, has a good appetite, is energetic etc, loves the pills) but untreated, it can affect their kidneys etc. She's an inside dog and there haven't been a lot of ticks in our area - but there have been some - and I guess it just takes one. We use Frontline Plus (which she hadn't had til recently) but have heard even that doesn't offer absolute protection. She's black and it's challenging to find ticks on her but we'll be using the flea/tick comb a lot more often. Best of luck to you and your dog!
