Default first Week living in Delaware

So far so good, we won't have our furniture until tomorrow, but that's ok mom insists on steam cleaning all the carpets before it comes. LOL

This morning I tried Bob Evans for breakfast, we don't have them CA, it was very good, I had Blueberry pancakes with vanilla cream cheese, mom had eggs, sausage and hashbrowns, then back to the house to wait for Verizon to hook up phone and internet, they are suppose to be here between 1 - 5pm well it's 4:15 and they are not here yet.

Dogs are getting acclimated to their new home, it's a beautiful day today absolutely gorgeous weather they've been laying in their new backyard all day, they barked only twice at 2 kids walking by the side fence on the way home from school. Next week I might give the kids doggy treats to give to the dogs so the dogs won't bark at them anymore. But you should see the big goofy grins on the dogs, I think they very much approve of their new home, for me once my stuff get's here I think it will feel like home, and I change the paint colors, cause it still feels like somebody elses house.

If it's the Bob Evans on 13 in Dover we've eaten there a few times. It's the kind of place where if you're in the mood for comfort food (meat loaf dinner, chicken pot pie, etc), that's a nice option. We found them to be pretty good.

The worst meal I ever had in my 56 years was also on Rt 13 in Dover. The Denny's was one of my worst experiences ever. Food, cleanliness, service, etc were all rock bottom. Don't ask me why we didn't walk out. We should have. I've eaten in other Denny's and they were fine. This one was either having a bad day, a bad career or somewhere in the middle.

Amazing how we always work our way around to restaurants, isn't it?

Charley

Dogs .
Ah.........you bring back memories Laura. Can't believe we have been here 15 months already. I thought we would never get unpacked and settled. Now 15 months and we are all settled in and it feels like home.
The big thing was my cats. They were traumatized by the move and I was a little upset the first week. But now I know they LOVE it.

the first few weeks, we had no furniture either. Only a blow up to sleep on. I was so glad when our new bedroom set was finally delivered. Then rest of the furniture came and it was arranging and figuring out where to put everything. Was exhausting to say the least but fun at the same time.
We ate out every day for the first couple weeks until we got settled.
bob Evans, applebees, Texas Rhodehouse and some other places around.

Glad all went well and welcome to Delaware Just in time for the nice weather. Today was a bueat!

If you have the time take a ride north on 13 to Jimmy's Grille in Bridgeville. They have wonderful food at reasonable prices. They have home made clam strips that they bread and fry there. That's my favorite and the portions are huge. Save room for dessert.

Laurel....sounds like things are going well for your. Welcome to Delaware!! Glad things are on the "upslide". Anything I can help you with, in the form of 'inside local information' feel free to PM me!

eastcoastblunder: Thanks for that! Yes, Jimmy's is a frequent stop for us, and many newcomers haven't even scratched the service, in regard to these hidden little places to dine. Jimmy's, in Bridgeville, reminds me of Niko's, in Dover.

About Bob Evans, they are not all the same, depending upon the location. Just my opinion, but the Middletown one is good, and the Camden one is good. The north Dover one.....well, the rare times we go there, my husband walks in with his own thermos of coffee . Once, a server acknowledged that, and said...."I don't blame you"

As said, we keep reverting back to talking about FOOD !

Laurel, I'm joining the welcome committee! I hope everything goes wonderfully well and as smoothly as possible for you. Take very good care of you during this process.

Delly, not only the newcomers haven't scratched the surface when it comes to "hidden little places to dine." Please, please start a thread, or add to this one, and list every one you can think of, up and down the state. We've been here more than 30 years, but I think we (and most friends) haven't discovered these places--and we want to!

First off Happy Cinco De Mayo!!! We CA peeps are big on that holiday and since we aren't unpacked we are gonna go to the only Mexican restaurant in town, Tequila's. It's not the best but it will do.

Well I started unpacking, geesh how can there be so many boxes?? Surely there weren't that many when we left CA!

I went to Home Depot and picked up gazillion paint chips, now I've got to figure out from all those itty bitty chips what colors will look good in what rooms and paint over the gawd awful mauve breakfast room. blah.

Went to Bob Evans again, had the stuffed blueberry pancakes with the vanilla cream cheese again, YUM!

Charley, I know what you mean about Denny's I've stopped going to them I've been to, to many bad ones.

Elizamary the dogs are settling down nicely, they seem very happy, the furniture is fitting perfectly as if we bought it for this house, that's a relief. All though we are gonna stand out like a sore thumb with our safari, leopard print decor I guess it's not big here on the east coast LOL Maybe I should have sold that to our friends before we came here. So we can buy the more traditional stuff to go with our house. Oh well all in due time.

Eastcoastblunder - Jimmy's Grille you say, hmmm we will check that out. Always looking for good places to eat.

Delly- I'm sure I will be calling upon you when I get settled and need info on places to go and things to do.

Anniebleu - I'm working then napping, then working, then napping. There is one present I'm getting from DE I didn't anticipate. That is the humidity or dampness and how it's effecting my bones, or muscles? I'm taking more pain killers then usual.

DSDumpling - Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you

Eastcoastblunder - I'm settling nicely, and no painting yet but got my chips!

Very good to hear that things are going so well. Can I come over and giggle at your leopard print stuff? I've had the Bob Evans blueberry stuffed pancakes and you're right they are quite tasty.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!
